Hi,

I applied for PR VISA to Canada....I was suggested to get lordotic view of chest done and a scar was found in the lungs.... I was further suggested to get Pulmonology consult done and under which I got mantoux test and CT Scan done.... Skin test came out positive but I dont have any symptoms ( Doc said I dont have TB). He said the scar is due to antibiotic i took 8 years back for pneumonia.....Will I get my visa or it ll b rejected?

Plz help...I am really worried

Thanx

You should, all things being equal; they'd probably put you under medical surveillance.

it is clear from CIC website that TB, as long as it is already INACTIVE will not be a ground for visa/immigration rejection.

if during the course of the medical exams during the application the applicant was found to have ACTIVE TB, you will be required to undergo medications until your TB is cured or becomes inactive already. then you may proceed with your application.

BUT while in canada, the applicant with INACTIVE TB will be placed in medical surveillance where you need to have your condition checked by a doctor to ensure that your TB does not become ACTIVE. I believe it says you need to get in touch with the health department to be placed into medical surveillance within 1 month after you landed.

only those with diseases that are not curable and could cause danger to public health may be refused for visa issuance or immigration.

also you said that you already have a PPR... so i guess things are looking up for you my friend so worry not... GOODLUCK AND GOD BLESS YOU!

WE GOT THIS REPORT FROM THE SPECIALIST:

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

This is to certify that Mrs. Rinku Gongal Shrestha, Age 34, Female, was examined by me and she was detected to have fibrosis RUL on x-ray chest PA.

She is not symptomatic at present and has never been treated for Tuberculosis in the past. Her sputum smear for AFB and her sputum MTB culture report is negative. HRCT thorax reveals only Fibronodular and Cavitary lesions with traction and cylindrical Bronchiectasis affecting the RUL and RML possible sequelae of old, self healed Tuberculosis infection of which the patience was never aware of.

She has no evidence of active disease at present and medically fit to pursue any type of employment or job as she prefers.

WOULD THE IMMIGRATION CONSIDER IT INADMISSIBLE TO CANADA?

WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THE FINAL DECISION FOR THE LAST 5 MONTHS. I AM REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE DELAYS?
WHAT ARE OUR CHANCES OF GETTING PR FOR CANADA???

I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE.
THANKS

The letter says that if it is TB, it is inactive, so you can still be issued a PR visa.

my daughter had her medical last april 2010 and she was advised to have a sputum culture after her xray showed something in her lungs. after a call last friday, we were told that her sputum culture is negative. i don't know if the clinic will give or send us a report but my daughter is advised to have another chest xray in july. i asked if she can do it sooner but they said the next xray should be done 3 months after the initial xray. we are hoping that the next xray would be ok and the clinic send her medical to the embassy right after they got the result. our family class application was submitted may 2010 (an applicant with 2 dependents) and we are still waiting for sponsorship approval. will my daughter's medical process cause us delay for all 3 of us or hers alone? are there instances that theres positive tb on the next xray and do they have to wait until it heals?

First of all, for reasons of privacy and confidentiality, I would suggest that you go back and edit your previous message and edit out your name from the posting.

Based on the report, you don't have active TB, so you would not be found to be medically inadmissible. Good luck.

Hello Jalap,

According to the letter, you are negative for TB. Also note, if you received an immunization called BCG as an infant/ child, your skin test WILL be positive. Therefore a chest xray is always necessary. Additionally your sputum cultures and AFB were negative (TB is spread by airborne/ droplet). Your physician determined that the scars on Xray was possibly healed lesions TB, correct? I am not an immigration expert but it sounds like you should be okay. Good luck.

try to obtain a specimen first thing in the morning, when you first wake up. you should only need 3-5 cc of sputum and it can't be spit. it must come from lower down your pulmonary system. if all else fails, find out if your physician will recommend/ give an inhalation, expectorant to aid. good luck
