yes, there are only 3 statuses available for that entry; started, not started, or complete
Kingston is in the habit of not updating it until complete :(

Yup, it will stay at "Not Started" until it is actually finished/completed. Then it will switch to "Passed". They don't actually say "Started" at any point. Weird, I know. That is CIC practice, not just individual to KG. I went off on them about that during my rant about eCAS during the survey. :P

I found this link to help me with some of the notes but they failed in comparison to a good chat with a someone who knows what she is talking about ;)

I guess back to my original question for when the background/security checks get done, it happens in KG only after the relationship "test" receives a pass.

Correct. Spousal applications rest on the relationship, so it must be deemed bona fide for the background checks to proceed. Section 4 denies the foreign national as being the sponsor's "spouse for the purpose of the Regulations" if 1) The relationship is not genuine and 2) The relationship was entered into for the purpose of gaining status under IRPA. If the relationship is found to not be genuine, then the person isn't your "spouse" so far as CIC is concerned, and background checks would be a waste of resources.

so interview, background checks, then ppr...hmmm

Welcome to the reality of Section 4 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). Sometimes the good get caught with the bad and have to fight their way through an appeal. On the other hand, if Section 4 wasn't there, we wouldn't hear the end of it when scammers use Canadians to come to Canada to live off the benefits.

i dont know if i can stomach the idea of filing for an appeal....what is that another 1-2 years wait time???

NO FREAKING WAY!!!!!!!

OMG!!!!!!!!! I will be there interview!!!!!!!!!! X_X

This convo is really tripping me out.....READY!!!!!!!! Dont trip out!!!

This is so scary!!!!!!!

Oh Please GOD HELP US ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, no, no. I am not sharing this info for you guys to trip out. I believe in the motto "Knowledge is Power" so I share and give information so you can be informed. This is the reality of what you are up against, and I want RFMO and her hubby to be so well-prepared there is no question but that he is coming out of that interview successful. It never hurts to be over-prepared and to be fully cognisant of the worst case scenario. It can be devastating to be under-informed and ill-prepared and to treat something so pivotal to your lives together as less than it really is.

Remember, KG approves 86% of their applications. I want everyone to act as if they are going to fall into that 14% when preparing themselves to deal with KG, but believe they are in the 86% (it is a sizable majority!). ;)

Depending on where you live, an appeal can take up to 1-2 years, yes. They are trying to reduce that timeline, though.

Anada, an interview is only requested if KG feels that the evidence/circumstances as presented in the application alone can not deem the relations as bona fide. Your hubby won't be called for an interview if your application passes this part of their criterias.

LMAO we could find a small island out there and start a reality tv show called Immigration Island: Waiting for our Husbands/Wives. At least people would see what stress we go thru on a daily basis while waiting for this process HAHAHA
