I'm not sure what's happening with my application. Quite some changes this week.

A quick update on my timeline:
AOR: June 2
Medical passed: June 13
ADR (PCC): June 14
IP2 (think I skipped IP1): July 10
Ghost Update: October 12 (I think)
ADR reviewed: October 17
Back to ADR being reviewed : October 18
Profile updated / ADR "not needed": October 19

Such a rollercoaster this week!
Will end with a PPR!

Just finished a call with an agent. She was very helpful but the information she gave me left me scratching my head. My IP2 started on 16th October, I thought my eligibility is passed but she said eligibility recommend passed (this is I know from gcms notes, done on 18th July), Criminality is finalized and Security is on going. Once the file is aproved it will be sent to respective visa office to issue visa.

Security started before eligibility is formally passed?? Or the visa officer is too lazy to update the status? What is Criminality finalized meaning?

jus called cic , agent said file is at new delhi, they hv a back log, hence not to call/email before 6 months is over as then the focus shifts on replying to applicants queries and no wrk is done on file.

surprisingly she said only med has passed ( which is something i can also see on account ) but rest all like eligibility , BG, Crim and Sec has not even started.

last time i spoke to an agent, she said they cant access files which are outside canada and couldnt tell me anything. todays agent told me nothing has started. how do i interpret this conflicting info?

do u think as i hv ordered gcms on 27 sept, todays agent may hv had access to it and may hv seen that nothing has started from gcms notes ? or was
it a mistake by first agent ?

i dnt knw what to make of this, please reply at ur convenience.
Hi dear, it is true that cic agents are under lots of pressure as they have a deadline to meet followed by christmas and new year approaching soon.. they have to meet their annual targets.

Contacting the cic agent to know about ur current status is just like getting a first aid to your wound but not an ultimate fix, you cannot rely on their answers blindly as there are instances where wrong info was given to applicants. The best way to learn about your progress is thru GCMS notes and placing an order for these notes will not piss anyone nor slow your file in anyway.
Some people choose to order these notes after 60 days from AOR while some people choose 90 days from AOR, I'd choose to order the first set of notes on the 91st day and then i would keep a gap of 20 to 30 days again to order the second set of notes. It is highly recommended that you order your GCMS notes so that you know that your file is not untouched.

From the CPC, the files are alloted to the Visa office while some files are alloted to the local visa office, there are certain instances where case files were alloted in the following manner due to backlogs CPC --> VO--> LVO--> VO. Unlike the previous paper based applications which had to be couriered physically, nowadays all information are easily accessible in their system so files dont move around physically thereby reducing processing time positively. For instance, a file which is sent to Montreal can be further assigned to another office like Ottawa, NDVO, Kiev etc incase Montreal is jampacked with backlogs and this is done to reduce further processing delays .

At this point, we cannot conclude on the info given by either of the agents due to the contrast in the information given out to you verbally. My assumption purely, the latter agent may have just wanted to get off the call asap, to meet deadlines or maybe was having a bad day...

Dont be upset, sad or frustrated, we are all with you on the same boat, hand in hand, dont let a mere call spoil your weekend... cheers !! :)

I think Security / Criminality can start before the eligibility has been fully completed. I think the same happened to me (as per CIC agent, did not confirm with GCMS). Either way, Criminality is, as far as I know, the "easier" of the two, focusing on making sure you did not commit any crimes, so checking your police certificates etc. Criminality finalized would imply that they are satisfied with your police documents.

Security is lengthier, since this entails making sure you're not a threat to the country (so more elaborate research).

Guys please don’t order Gcm notes if you have not completed minimum five months. It is waste of time and money. Your file will not be processed faster rather it slows the process because visa officers gets engaged in making these notes.

Hi, you are mistaken, case officers do not sit and prepare the notes when a GCMS order is placed. These notes are basically a detailed summary of every single task done on your file, this info is directly fed on to their system by the case officers, agents or depts on their ERP simultaneously while they work on it . Although the order for notes goes to a completely specialised dept that handles it, the case officer would just get a notice that a gcms was made. Ordering your gcms notes does not slow processing of the case in anyway.

Have a great weekend, Cheers!!

they start background checks (criminality and security) after eligbility is met or recommended passed. your criminality is passed.

Ignore whatever CIC agent tells you. Two people on Montreal thread were told their BG check has not started and they had PPR same evening.

Hi, we cannot make any kinda prediction because there is no standard operating method which they follow universally for all files.

Hey sir, thank u so so much for replying and sharing ur thoughts. I really appreciate it. I think u may b right, the agent actually was also a little rude/cynical/condescending, but i didnt react to it and was still polite with her fearing that if i challenged her with the way she was replying to me , it cud jeopardize my applc.

I actually ordered 1st set of notes on 93rd day, i will wait patiently now until 27 dec 2018 , but keep ordring gcms every 30 days from when i receive 1st set.

thanks once again and hv a lovely weekend , peace

Criminal check looks into your police certificates and verifies with relevant countries to see if you have a criminal record that may make you inadmissible to Canada.Criminality finalized here could mean they did some sort of communication and the status is being finalized.

Why would you be afraid of an agent ? Put their attitude aside and just ask what you gotta ask. They can't influence your process in a positive nor negative way.

Its best to be neutral, patient and polite with the agents as they can put in negative remarks to case officer on their remarks section which can cause unnecessary delay..
