Issue with WES - Need help : University of Madras

I even contacted them and they said Its confidential. Wes will not let us know. I was told to do nothing. And i thought i should sit back and watch. And few days back i got mail from wes requested me to go to University and make payment for verification process. When i contacted the University they said i have to make payment.

Hi Arvinkumar,

After how many days of waiting university asked you to do payment ? Did they responded back to WES? Even I am in same situation and no message from WES regarding payments to university.

Please let me know whether I need to visit univ to make the process faster.

Whom can we contact ? How to proceed further ?

Any kind of information regarding this would be very helpful. I may have to fix this sooner,as am in the verge of loosing 5 more points in a month due to age factor.

I started my WES evaluation process a month ago. The university transcripts were accepted and the verification process began. Last night, I received an email stating the following :

"Thank you for submitting your credentials for evaluation to World Education Services (WES). We are committed to preparing evaluations based on documents that are accurate and valid.

Due to the increased incidence of fraud, WES conducts a secondary verification of documents. This is to advise you that WES has sent photocopies of your documents for verification both electronically and by standard postal mail to University of Madras. Your WES file is on hold until we receive a written response from this institution.

Response times vary and can take just a few days or can extend to weeks. If we do not receive a response from them within seven weeks, we will automatically send another request. There is nothing that you need to do. This communication is strictly between WES and the institution."


My university- University of Madras.
Degree - BBA and MBA

Is there anyone else in the same boat or anyone experienced a similar response from WES? I am not sure how effective University of Madras is in responding to such verification requests. Please let me know your thoughts.

I got reply from wes and requested me to contact the university to make payment for verification. What is your status?

1. How long it took for wes to tell that you need to make the 'verification payment'?
2. Whom did you contact in the university?
3. How much was the payment ?
4. Did you try to pay online ?

These info will be really helpful , as am not in India , and i have to try contacting the univ over phone and make the payment online if possible.

Try to understand, once WES Canada received transcript they will send a request mail to your respective university for cross verification purpose, hence it is completely internal verification b/w university and WES Canada, so no one can involve in this process.

If in case if your university is not responded from long time then you can approach and ask them, but there is no separate fee for the same

Well... Technically what you say is correct. But in my case the univerisity is 'madras university' where nothing happens without money. Not even a mail reply. That is what am worried about.

I am also facing this same problem.i had done BCA from university of madras (distance education).My canada secondary verification started before 5 weeks,still madras university didn't respond to wes verification.still my status is on hold.My MCA secondary verification cleared within one week by CUSAT.But i don't why madras university doing like this.My wes agent directly visited madras university office for enquiring about this,but they don't know about this ,they are asking which mail id of madras university is used for sending verification from canada.I think from canada they are also sending verification details via postal service.can anybody share me which mail id of madras university is using for secondary verification from canada?

Hi @aiwsaryap, I have already mailed WES to get the postal and email address to which the docs are sent. Probably you can do the same. Share it here, if you get any reply.

Hi Raj ,i got the same information.i have send one enquiry email to the additional controller of examinations about my wes verification.In addition to that my wes agent used to visit every week in madras university and enquiring about this verification details,they are really playing with so many excuses, they says if those documents are mailed through postal services they may be missed or not will going to check .if they are sending the response via postal service,it will take very long time to reach in canada because currently there are some labour disruption in Canada Post,so from wes they requesting to send everything via courier.
so the university will only send response through electronic mail.But we don't know to which email id it has been send.university staffs don't know anything about this.I had done the graduation via distance education,so i'm not sure whether the corresponding mail send to IDE section ,or main office section.i got the mail from wes on 25th september about secondary verification ,now one month is over.still my status is on hold.My master degree verification has been completed within a week by cochin university,but without getting this madras university response my Eca result will not going to publish.
some people says there is a charge for completing verification from university of madras.can anybody tell me how much is that charge?if anybody facing this same situation it is better to contact madras university directly or via your wes agent.Because our time and effort is wasting by believing these universities.

Following this thread, I am observing this is happening to University of Madras institution. Hi all, I mailed WES to get the details of email-id or address to which the docs are sent. WES refused to give those information. But they also said, there is an option to send the second-time (after 7 weeks) verification docs to Univ through express courier, which will have a tracking number & will be provided to us. Using this tracking number we can track the package to the department which received it and then check with them. But we need to pay additional 85$ to WES for this. If anybody has already crossed 6 weeks waiting and no response from Univ, I suggest to do this.
