Hello Everyone.
Please I am new to this forum and I would like to ask about timelines for H&C approval stage 2 . Did anyone get stage 2 approval recently? Please how long do you think before I get stage 2 approval? It took 18months to get AIP. I want to apply for work permit extension but I am trying to wait till September, 2025. Maybe I might get lucky and get approved before my PGWP expires in October, 2025
I am currently on a PGWP that will expire in October 2025. I applied for H&C as the principal applicant with my 2 minor dependent.
My timeline is below
Application submitted- November 24,2023
AOR - November 24, 2023
Biometrics-December 14, 2023
All Supporting documents was submitted with application.
AIP- May 8, 2025
Request for Medical - Pending

Hi everyone, I recently submitted my H&C application and was wondering how long it will take before I receive AOR? Second question is, how people know in which case processing center their case is? I heard they have two, one in Niagara and the other one in BC. How people know that their case there and how you guys reach out to them?

You received your AOR the same day you submitted your application?

Yes and No.That’s because I previous submitted my application Nov 15, 2023 and there was a mistaken so I had to resubmit on Nov 24, 2023. So I got my AOR same day. For me the only reason I know where my case is been treated was when I got my AIP and It was from Niagara office.

Have you completed your medical exam yet? As far as I know, you have 30 days to do it after receiving your AIP. Since you’ve already received your AIP, you should now be eligible to apply for a new Open Work Permit based on your H&C approval. Just curious—what timeline was shown when you submitted your application? I applied in August 2024, and mine showed 20 months. I’m still waiting for my AIP.

No, I haven’t received any medical request. My lawyer said if one is needed from me they will request for it. Note, I have been inside Canada without travelling out of the country since 2020, so I might be exempted from medical.
Yes, my Post graduate work open will expire in October, 2025 so I am thinking of applying for extension it by September, 2025.
Timeline shown when I applied was 20months in November 2023.
I got my AIP on the 18month.

You have to go by the current time line, which is 23 months. You dont go by what it was when you submitted it.

Does anyone know what exactly the process is for the “backgroud check in progress”? Are they communicating with the countries we lived in previously to verify what we told them is true?

Another question for the thread, is there any way to speed up the application? For example at least AOP? I know that the best way is have complete application and have everything in order, but maybe there is some other ways that people tried? Thanks : )

...no. However, the pilfering centre will prioritize applications based on urgency and severity. Best interet of child and family violence will tend to have applications processed faster as opposed to those just not able to meet any other immigration stream.

Thanks for your reply. I was also on a PGWP, which expired in January 2025. I had been waiting for a CEC draw, but there haven’t been any since 2022—and the points are now too high—I ended up applying for H&C at the very last moment. I’ve been in Canada since December 2018 and haven’t left the country even once. Just waiting for my AIP now.

Sorry, I don’t think that’s how it works. The processing time shown at the time you apply is what generally applies to your application. Since processing times keep changing, the new timelines don’t usually affect applications that were already submitted.
