Congratulations
Are they from Quebec ?
May I know why they asked for a financial exemption? As far as I know, proof of financial situation is only required after the AIP, right? For example, some people don’t have a work permit (and don’t work) before receiving the AIP, and once they get it, they become eligible to work.

May I also know which office issued the approval
?
I did not ask for financial exemption up-front but officer really went in depth of our situation and figured that my parents will need one. Hence, it was granted. Thanks to her million times for that!!

My father is old, on dialysis, and cannot work. My mother will seek a part time job and will care for my father in her capacity while working. But, with this situation, it will probably not be possible for them to meet the financial requirements. Hence, an exemption was granted.

Niagara falls office.

No, they are not in Quebec.

If they can’t meet financials how did they pay for dialysis since it appears they have been in Canada for over 4 years? That can be up to 60k/month. They still will struggle financially especially after they hit 65 since they have no CPP or other workplace pension.

Dialysis rates are not as high as 60k/month. It's about 50k/year for un-insured patients. For patients covered by health card, it is much lower. So, they charged us discounted rate after knowing our whole story. I still pay the monthly installments of those accumulated bills.

My dad is already older than 65 and OHIP will cover him from now on. For future, I am there for them to take care of them forever with all aspects of the life. They are my parents, and I am not relying on CPP or anything like that for them to survive on. They spent their all savings for my future in Canada and it is my turn now.
