Applications are not processed in a strict chronological order. Some applications take longer to process because they are more complicated, have a larger file to review, may involve multiple people versus a single applicant, case officer receives information from a 3rd party at a different speeds, etc. The case load of the officer assigned to your case can also have an impact on processing. Not sure what you mean by combining H&C and PPRA. They are distinct applications with different purposes and assessment criteria. Do you mean they are both being processed and you are scheduled to hear the outcomes at the same time? Have noticed that there have been a few recent cases where applicants are receiving the outcomes of both applications at a meeting with CBSA. If PPRA is approved and the applicant has no criminal record IRCC may be more inclined to approve the H&C application. This may predominantly be an attempt to streamline the process and reduce administrative burden of processing multiple types of applications at the same time but that is just my theory.

If I remember correctly you also submitted an applications that was thousands of pages long. I am not longer able to see all the previous posts since the last update and just the most recent ones. Am I remembering correctly? If that is the case that would also impact speed of processing.
My last update on ATIP it was saying combined application can be found ….
No you don’t remember correctly. My application is not thousands of pages long.
They combined two of them together and will decide based on that. I don’t think I can get PR from PRRA so best option would be H&C for me.

Plus my case is not that complex tbh I don’t know why it is exceeding the normal processing time. I can see people applying after me they got their results so, I was wondering the reason.

How long was the application? Can you post the exact working about the application being combined and the context.

You may not consider it complex but that doesn’t mean that IRCC does not. If you applied in June 2023 your processing time is in line with almost everyone else being processed so not sure why you feel that your case is exceeding normal processing time.

Hello Everyone,

Any advice will be appreciated, I got my AOR on September 2023 and my PRRA on June 2024. I recently received a letter from CBSA that my PRRA application response is ready.

I got there and the officer that attended to me said the officer in charge of my case is not around, that I need to come back at a different date. But my major concern is the time I’m asked to come back, the time is 7:30am. Please everyone is the timeline normal please. Any one with similar experience should please advise me on this.

It just said combined application can be found url link. Nothing after that. They will give the result for both h&c and prra at the same time as you said.

It is actually the preferred time for many who work 9-5. It doesn’t mean anything.

Still considered a relatively recent application and you are likely looking at years before you get a response about AIP under the current H&C program unless you are the rare exception that gets a faster response.
Thank you @canuck78
just checking for the option as how to check the status. I know, there won’t be any movement as I just submitted last December, but want to know how will we know the status. As I submitted online, I couldn’t check the status. Please guide me how would we know if there is any status change.

can we create application tracker for H&C applications.?

Most don’t have any movement regarding their application for 1.5+ years these days so until you reach at least that point you aren’t tracking anything. This may get even longer given the volume of applicants and the yearly quota which is small and getting smaller every year for all forms of H&C. For example there is likely around 100k applications for the general H&C program but there are only 10k spots for all forms of H&C (there are at least 5 types) this year, 6.5k for 2026 and 4.5k for 2027. In the fall an analysis said it would take 5-7 year to process all the files waiting for processing and the number of applications have increased since then. Would suggest that your family keep looking for other pathways to obtain PR in Canada.

Are you sure there are 100k applications for H and C. Last statistics showed inventory of 45k applications pending for eligibility.
