Quoting from our watsapp group:

A must watch for people waiting in Express Entry pool.
The video was recorded on May 7, 2016 at Newcomers Canada Fair, held at the Shaw Conference Centre, in Edmonton and the Speaker works for IRCC (CIC).
Highlights :
1) Current draw size is kept low as CIC still has backlogs of paper based PR applications received before Express Entry.
2) The paper based PR application backlogs are expected to be cleared by Sept/ Oct 2016.
3) Once the backlog is cleared, Express Entry will be the only source of Economic stream PR applications.
4) This will result in higher draw size of 2000-2500 ITAs per draw.
5) ITA cut-off scores will "likely drop below 400" to accommodate higher draw size.
Focus on 2 mins clip between 16:30-18:30 for clarification on above points.

Note : Even though the speaker works for IRCC, please do not treat this as an official announcement.

By the way, Guys join CRS tracker - add your details help others!

Trust me guys threads/posts like this is very crucial in the time like this.

International students have hit hard by this new "Express Entry" system and eagerly waiting for changes.

Express entry has opened the floodgates for the scam artists (including some lawyers) to take advantage of poor International students.

I'd appeal to all my fellow international students to sit tight and wait for the changes or points to fall down to 400 level.

Canadian govt has to realize the importance of International student (so called cream of the crop) and make some changes to the existing system before it gets too late.

I would also hope that it will go down below 400. But in the video he mentioned that the least score it went down was around 450 to 425.

So I am little skeptical as he said it will go down below 400.

Hope it will at least be close to 400.

I can't see how it can fall that much so quickly - there's going to be an immense backlog of applications in the 400-450 range (who have never gotten a draw, so there is a 1 year backlog) not to mention the 450-~470 people that aren't getting selected recently.

It may fall over time, but unless CIC draws 2000 at a time for several months (years?) it won't get to 400 any time soon. I'm at 430 and still banking on my OINP application.

416 points is if you're in your 20s with a bachelor and a year of work experience in your country. That's hundreds of thousands of people. It'll never go down to 400.

Guys to track the changes/trends in the CRS score i urge you to add your scores to CRS tracker - I will then add reporting tool, which would allow to estimate the current score. I need a working sample of about 500 join in.

According to the Year End Report, there were 13,537 candidates with a CRS in the 400 - 449 range. Dropping to below 400 will mean that ALL of these will be eligible. The break down is as follows:

440 - 449 2,486
430 - 439 2,842
420 - 429 2,185
410 - 419 2,899
400 - 409 3,125

The lowest CRS cut off has been 453 so far this year. So it is highly unlikely that we'll see a sub 400 score anytime soon, as these numbers are surely increasing.

Using the PNP or getting a Job offer seems to be the best way forward.

Thanks Hot2Cold for the information.

If all the backlogs cleared and EE is the only source for economic class then 13k should be low number compared to their targets

You're forgetting passive applicants. A lot of people in the 400-430 range wouldn't create/re-create a profile because they know it's too long of a shot.

13K applicants translates to 39K immigrants if you catch a rough average of 3 people per applicant. The targets are based on people, but EE profiles are generally single people with families.

10K ITAs have already been issued this year, which would be twice or thrice that number in person counts. SO the target may be comfortably met with these applications.

While we must keep hopes up, for the CRS to drop, a serious applicant must look at a PNP nomination or a LMIA backed job offer to be sure of getting an ITA.

But even if they do not, there's going to be a steady stream of new applicants
