I also had this added to my IP notes. They just asked for my RFPR fee last week as well.
Hopefully you guys will get yours soon also. Our medical exams are pretty much dead on and COPR we got expires on December 7th, so for you it will be 5th I guess. It also took a 1.5 weeks to get it in the mail(5 hour drive to Ottawa for us)... thanks canada post! I heard cic can extend medical expiry though

Hey guys,

Maybe you can help me out with this!

My sponsor and I (we've lived together about 2 years as a common law couple) got married on Saturday (it was a planned ceremony attended by our friends and family from across the US and Canada). We are currently In Process.

How should I go about informing CIC of the change to our marital status? I have a Marriage Commissioner's statement and lots of photos, which I would be able to send immediately-- the actual legal marriage certificate will not arrive for some two to three weeks. Is emailing a scanned copy fine, or do they require hard copies via post? Is it worth sending the "unofficial" document we got on our wedding day, or is it better to wait until we have the official certificate (which we will obviously also send when it arrives)? Where would I send such an email?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hey guys,

Our medical expires in January 2016. Our application status showed "medical received" on Oct. 13th. Does the January expiry date still apply 'till our application is approved? Or since it's "received" we no longer have to worry about the expiry?

Thanks for the help!!

As far as I know COPR is set to expire 1 year after the medical exam date. If you don't receive COPR before January 2016, I am sure they will either extend your medical expiry or request another medical exam.

I second that sentiment!

Seems to have gone quiet again after a flurry of DM's and PPR's a couple of weeks ago, hopefully they start appearing again this week!

Planning on landing in a month's time and would much rather do it with COPR in hand than have to do dual intent

Guys we got a DM! :D

I was so shocked its like my eyes have been burned in to expect In process to show

So to update our timeline

Applied: Nov 3, 2014
Spouse Approval: Early January 2015
In process: August 6, 2015 (aka the big batch)
DM: October 20th, 2015

Now the wait for the COPR to be mailed. I would love to know how long the COPR took for others? Or if anyone got any information about the COPR from the call centre so I know if its even worth trying.

Congratulations!! I don't have first hand experience since I'm still waiting, but I have seen people post that it takes roughly a couple of weeks to receive it in the mail, although some have reported longer time lines, usually because the COPR isn't sent right away in their cases (not for any reason...just the typical CIC "we'll do it when we get around to it" type of thing). You can try the call centre, but as always, results may vary...just depends on who you get. Some have reported getting info on when the COPR was mailed, others not so much.

Congratulations again!

You do have to still worry about expiry, but don't do anything until they request new medicals as there is a good chance they will be extended. I am in a similar situation, but mine expire on November 27th. I sent a case specific inquiry yesterday to Ottawa, hoping to find out if they've been extended or even better, a response that says my application will be done in enough time to land. I will post if I get a response.

Congratulations!!! You have inspired me to keep on checking just when I had decided that we had somehow got lost in the mix and would be "In process" forever :) (We applied in December). Good luck with the next stages!!!

Nice! Congrats!
COPR will be in the mail soon (give it 2 weeks).
Brown envelope with an ugly looking sticker and red Canada Post $1.65 stamp on it - haha!

Oh dear. I got an email today for each of my non-accompanying dependents with instructions for medical exams. We did both of theirs upfront. Did they lose them? They were done in January 2015, so they are still valid. Anyone know what this could be about? I'm on hold with CIC right now (11 minute wait). :( I hope I don't have to re-do them. I'd have to fly back to Arkansas, pull them from school, and drive two hours one way to do them again..not to mention the cost. My ex-husband has been no help at all! I still have the email from the doctor with the completed forms to prove I did them.

OMG. I hung up on the CIC lady. I was about to lose my temper. We did their medicals upfront a week before mine. The stupid lady at CIC is trying to tell me that it must mean they need them redone because "they are about to expire" WTF? They are still good for three months! I'm so livid right now. My kids' medicals were done by a different doctor, so I'm wondering if they didn't attach them to my file somehow. I can't understand why she can't give me a definitive answer. I'm just supposed to fly back to Arkansas, pull them out of school, drive two hours to the doctor and do them again on a whim that they *might* need them redone? I'm so angry at the lack of competence. Surely they don't need that much more time to finish my application. I've never heard of them sending requests for re-do this early. I guess all I can do is reply to the email with the pdf files of the kids completed medicals from January. Why can't they be more clear? We're talking $1,000 or more here that I don't have. Anyone else receive requests to re-do medicals? Is it just this generic email with the pdf? This makes no sense at all!

What is sounds like is, they possibly lost the documents and are now requesting the again with the excuse of well they are expiring please submit them again. I would email Ottawa, because they did say they did not receive my FBI clearance then shot me another email saying they found it. You wont find many answers from CIC, they have been instructed to not talk about any file if it hasnt passed 17th months which is the current processing time for the Ottawa office, i have had atleast 5 different agents tell me they are not allowed to provide any updates unless the processing time has passed.
