Hello everyone,

As I have ben reading through this thread I have noticed that most of the people still waiting for permanent residency approval seem to have applied January 2015 or later...

Is there anyone else out there like me who applied for outland spousal sponsorship in December 2014 and still hasn't heard anything after getting approval for spousal sponsorship? Just starting to get worried that we have somehow been left behind...

You are not alone.
I'm a Nov 2014 applicant and still haven't got DM. I've only had a request for additional documents (proof of Residence/Intent to Reside) around Aug 20.

My status changed to In Process today. I was one of the people that got the generic email on Tuesday...just wondering if anyone else also had a change who received that email.

Mine changed today, I got the email on Tuesday too.

Just been having a bit of a play about with the various spreadsheets to reassure myself that the end might actually be in sight. This is by no means comprehensive but looking specifically for users who got DM's in the last few months at Ottawa who got document requests in the months beforehand:

dbentley Doc request June 4th - DM July 7th - 5 weeks
melgolchuck Doc request June 18th - DM - DM July 3rd - 5 weeks
blacknirvana - Docs sent ~June 26th - Decision Made 28th August - 9 weeks
prairiegirl - Docs sent early July - Decision Made 27th August - 7 weeks
figtoria - Doc request 28th July - Decision Made 4th August - 1 week!
jimmyche - Doc request July 30th - Decision Made 2nd September - 5 weeks

So 5 weeks seems to be a pretty common timescale from getting a document request to seeing DM, also virtually every Ottawa DM seems to show up in the last or first week of the month.

Especially if you look at others that didn't get document request but did get DM's recently:
mandy_28115 - DM 1st May
coni - DM 26th May
claudzilla - DM 29th May
monstergirls - DM June 1st
Majromax - DM - June 30th
Serabeth - DM June 5th
Saraia - DM June 11th
mtn_air - DM 3rd July


Maybe it's just me but does it seem like Ottawa maybe operates in a cyclical manner where the actual decisions are made towards the end of each month. Would also fit with a whole load of us suddenly getting document requests around the 20th last month, then it being quiet on that front before a whole new batch of applicants got the same document requests this week suggesting they work on that stuff in the middle of each month.

If I was a betting man I'd be putting my money on last month's IP and document request applicants seeing DM's next week or the week after.

Indeed, it feels like they are doing everything in batches, emails, status updates( IP, DM) etc...
It is possible that there are whole bunch of apps with DM already that are still with IP in the system.

We are in the same boat as others. On Monday we got that same generic email requesting more documents, which we sent back the same day. Today our status in Ecas changed from Application received to In Process! We are loving this 5 weeks to decision made idea, but who knows? I will just be happy if we can get news before Christmas!

Id love for the 5 weeks to be a certainty! We got our first email regarding proof of residency on Aug 19th along with a batch of other applicants. Status changed to IP a few days later. We got a second email about 3 weeks ago for the background check. All of which have been sent previously. So it's been 5 weeks yesterday since the first email, so hopefully tomorrow or next week is when we'll get DM. So close I can taste it haha.

IP happened around August 22nd, requesting proof that sponsor resides in Canada.
On September 8th there was another one - your application is now in queue blah blah blah...

Also a bit worried about the medical exam and police certificates expiring - when it takes this long, do they make you get additional documents or do they somehow waive the dates since we provided them upfront?

Passport Request : 8/28/15
Passport received by CIC : 09/03/2015
Visa Issued : 09/22/2015
Going for landing next week!

Are you IP already? I'm May 5th with no IP yet. :-[
