Yeah unfortunately this email doesn't seem to indicate very much. I received the same email July 30, went IP August 6, and still nothing. I was SO excited when I first got it, believing things were moving along, but I've pretty much lost all hope now lol :(

ChellyCat did you respond to the email you received on July 30?

Hi all, wondering at which point Ottawa typically requests the interview if there is one. Our application has been in process status for about a month now, we have exchanged 2-3 emails with CIC to provide to them additional documentation.
The last email (about 2 weeks ago) stated that our application is now in the queue to be reviewed by the visa officer and to send police certificates if we haven't done so already.

Thanks :)

very few U.S applicants are subjected to an interview, unless you have major red flags in your relationship or there is criminality issues there should no interview needed.

Yup I think I emailed them back like two days later.

Right, the reason I am stating this is, I got the letter for the RPRF payment and proof of residency in Canada for the sponsor back on August 20th. I got my notes last week, and no checks have started and no one has been assigned to look at the file so its safe to assume, the letter really means nothing I hope I am wrong.

Notes are 30 days in arrears, so yours are probably right on the border of when the generic email went out. Still not sure what all these letters mean, especially since so few of those "In Process" people from August 6 have gone to decision made, but I'm hoping they start cranking stuff out fast and furious now...

Where can you find in your notes whether or not someone has been assigned to your file?

Hello all,

Does anyone know how long on average it takes Ottawa to send back a passport after it is sent ? My wife and I sent it from a Canadian address as she is living with me on her visitors visa (Not sure if that makes a difference in processing time).

Look on page 2 of the notes, under the paper file information you will see a section labeled application assignment. For the assigned to and assigned by fields, they are blank on my notes.

That's right. I emailed my bank statements and utility bills in pdf form.

We got the same email asking to confirm sponsor is still residing in Canada. Does anyone have any proof or personal experience that it is acceptable to email the documents and that we don't need to send them by snail mail?

I received mine back in about 10 days.

Do you have a cable bill? Download it as a pdf and send it to 'CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca'. Quote your application number and they should be able to match it, there is no need to spend mailing fees for such a simple request.

Hello everyone,

As I have ben reading through this thread I have noticed that most of the people still waiting for permanent residency approval seem to have applied January 2015 or later...

Is there anyone else out there like me who applied for outland spousal sponsorship in December 2014 and still hasn't heard anything after getting approval for spousal sponsorship? Just starting to get worried that we have somehow been left behind... ;)

Also a bit worried about the medical exam and police certificates expiring - when it takes this long, do they make you get additional documents or do they somehow waive the dates since we provided them upfront?

Thanks!

The police certificate isn't an issue - as long as it was good when the application was originally submitted you should be fine. Medicals might be another story, but there's not much you can do until they let you know one way or another.

My status changed to In Process today. I was one of the people that got the generic email on Tuesday...just wondering if anyone else also had a change who received that email.
