Hi Team,

Anyone else got DM yet? My medical expires in a couple of weeks and we're still waiting for any news...

Originally applied July2014 but had everything returned due to a form which was updated. We're a 6th October Applicant.

What is his current status in the US and what is his nationality?

He was an international student in the US for 5 years which gave him a one year work permit after graduation, status has since then expired and he is now in Canada with me as a visitor. He is from Mali, West Africa.

Any common-law couples have got DM recently from CPC-O? :o

His timeline will be slower than a citizen/green-card holder. I suppose under 12 months is still possible but it may take over year

Hi Jamsham,

My fiancee and I received DM on the 3rd July after docs requested in April. We applied in August and were common law. Took a lot longer than we though but still less than a year which was great we're now getting stuff ready for the move :O hope you get a decision soon.

Ah, congrats!!! just curious what docs did they request from you? I'm assuming it took almost a year due to the additional doc request?

They started looking at the App. in about April and they requested proof of intention to reside in Canada (from my sponsor which infuriated me as they had already granted her application), they also requested Statutory Declaration of Common Law Union (which again they didn't need). we sent the information in within a month and then heard nothing for the next month or so. It probably was entirely down to the additional docs requested. Hope this helps.

We just received confirmation of Sponsor Approval, and it is indicated that my file will be joining everyone's in CPC Ottawa!

I'm a US citizen who has been in Canada for two years as a worker and student. We applied common law, and obviously are hoping for a speedy resolution to our application. :D

As of Friday, I have not yet received my COPR letter. Looking at the Ottawa spreadsheet for the most recent "COPR received" entries, it appears that Ottawa's typical timeframe is less than two weeks between DM and COPR receipt. The lowest delays of a day or two are probably not typical, since the existence of "mail" means that the COPR would have to be in transit when the eCAS update was visible/spotted.

My uninformed guess is that there will be some time between the CIC agent's final decision and the printing of the COPR, then the typical postal delay once COPR is in transit. Either step for us would have taken a day off because of Canada Day.

Majromax, sorry to bother you again with this question, have you received your COPR if yes when? I spoke to our lawyer's today they said nothing in the post yet :( Thanks

For what it's worth, the intent-to-reside part is not at all assessed with the Sponsorship Approval. That stage looks strictly at the legal qualifications, such as whether the sponsor has a disqualifying criminal history, is on welfare, or is in default.

...To make everything worse, they also requested extra documentation to process my PR application, we sent it two weeks ago by post and now its stuck in Canadian customs :( Deadline for them to receive it is in three weeks and I don't know what to do. :-[

Looks like the extra documents made it to their office, should I expect some kind of confirmation from them?

I dont understand how CPC -Ottawa works on each applications, so many got left behind on this process already and there's Jan- March 2015 got landed already:( lucky them but its not their fault its the system itself :(

Thanks, please let me know when you receive it (if okay).

COPR received for the wife. She will most likely land on Saturday.

Congrats! It looks like she was a July 3 DM, from your posting history?

Still no dice on mail from my June 30 DM. I'll see if the call centre tomorrow can give me any clarification.
