In case there's any changes usually. Plus to make sure it still matches and you are still the person that you applied as haha.

Oh really, thanks alot.
Do they just need the main page of the passport (name & expiry)..?
Should i notarize the copy first or no ?just email them a copy..

FAM_Applicant......can you tell us your timeline? When did you file your application and get SA?

Hence the reason for all the delays.......they could cut a lot of the time if they didn't ask for the same thing at more than one stage of the process. Can you tell I'm getting a bit temperamental? I am ready for this process to be done NOW!!!! ;D

You and me both. I've been at this for a year and two months now. Was a May 2012 applicant but because of all the closures and stuff with the Buffalo office closing they didn't get around to opening my file until 5-6 months after I sent it to even try to assess my sponsor.... at that point my forms were outdated and they sent back the entire package and didn't hold me a place in queue.... had to resend everything in Jan of this year and start all over again with updated information (had to put a new package together).

Just be thankful you've not had to go throug9h that process. I wrote a letter requesting they show mercy on me having to redo medicals or security since the issue from before wasn't our fault and my meds expired in May this year and security check expired as I resent it. Crossing fingers they won't request the documents.. Sponsorship was approved so we'll see.

I don't envy you or anyone else who went through crap like that. I empathize and I PRAY I don't have to redo anything. This process for 5 months is hard enough, over a year would have me ready to go claw somebody's eyeballs out!! Good luck to you getting that speedy COPR!!

Hi all! I just found out that we received sponsor approval on June 17. Please update the spreadsheet, thanks!

Just a question- I didn't change my name to my married name before we sent in our application since I didn't want to delay the process any longer. If I do it now, will I need to only notify CIC of the change or will they ask me to send all new documents? Is it better to wait until after I receive COPR?

If you change your name now, you'll need to send in new docs. Personally, I would wait (well, I AM waiting myself! ).

Hi Everyone!

Can anyone elaborate or break down the timeline for me once COPR is received? I wasn't aware that I had to apply for a SIN # and there is another wait time on this? I am (as I am sure all of you) want to be able to have an idea when I will be able to (FINALLY) start work in Canada so I have a time frame to tell potential employers, as even the job hunt itself is a full time job!

I am currently in Vancouver, but headed back to the states for a little while (maybe a month or so). When I receive my COPR (I assume it is mailed to my permanent address in the states? Or will it be sent to my hubby/sponsors in Canada?) I will come back into Canada to land. Is it in my best interest to enter Canada first, then flagpole? I understand i will need all documents: Passport, IDs, marriage certificate...

Will I then apply for a SIN after this is done?

I can only relate my experience which is recent, landed in April. Once the COPR is received you can land anytime. There is an expiration date on the COPR, which might correspond with the one year date of your medicals. Be sure to check that. No appt needed to land at a border crossing. I landed on Friday, on Monday i went to apply for SIN, OHIP card, no problem. Just received my OHIP today as in Ontario medical doesn't kick in for three months. Received my SIN in a timely manner, not sure how many weeks, but not long. I crossed from the US to land with my husband. I had every piece of documentation I ever sent with me. They took my COPR and my passport, had me sign a few forms, and that part was done. The B4 forms also need to brought in at that time, or I should say I brought them in at that time, not sure of all the rules. No problems. I'm not sure why you would want to cross the border and then go back to flagpole, extra trip, just do it when you cross if you have all the paperwork. I believe the appts are needed if you want to land inland somewhere.

Hey all!

I ordered my case notes thru the online request form...I indicated we wanted electronic notes emailed and that was June 14... How long does it take to receive notes once they a ordered...I would have thought requesting them to be emailed would have expedited things but still waiting.

Thanks all! Keep on keeping on! It's seriously the hardest thing my hubby and I have gone thru...the not knowing is just the worst part...we have been married 8 months tomorrow and been apart except for a few weekend visits ever since. Hoping to hear something in the next month or so.

I ordered caips notes on 29th April & I got it through email on 27th of May.

Holy crap. Hopefully that means good things for me since my app was received 3 days before you and I got sponsorship approval the day before you did. Crossing my fingers!!!
