I think the idea is also to continue to use US visa offices for cases that are more complicated or require local expertise (presumably for more extensive background checks), and to do all of the straightforward cases in Ottawa. Which ought to mean it's good our applications are in Ottawa...

I prefer Ottawa gets help from the other VO offices than getting everything dumped on them. I'm sure they thought of that but the processing times for Stage 1 has sped up greatly so I can only imagine a huge backlog now. Hopefully I'm wrong :-X

So long as applications are processed in the order they were approved, the more recent quick approvals by Mississauga shouldn't change the backlog for us. Any backlog would mean our applications will sit an extra month in Ottawa because they weren't sitting an extra month in Mississauga, which wouldn't change the overall processing time. The processing time for Buffalo, where my application would have gone if not for the Ottawa pilot, was 11 months, and now Ottawa is 12 months. And sponsor approval was 69 days, and now it's 35. So it seems like that month has just shifted from Mississauga to Ottawa. What we really want is for the Ottawa processing time to fall rapidly - hopefully that will happen as they are getting up and running. I'd really love to have this process done by March...

Dual US and Canadian (my mother's American, my father's Canadian (and naturalized US citizen)), but grew up in the US, so zeeeee! (but one can adapt, eh? zed zed zed). We'll be in Montreal, and it's zed in French, too, so I'll adapt.

We are back at immigration today, hoping that we can finalize everything... supervisor here has left a message with CPP-O about our issue so hopefully it gets done today...

Fingers crossed for you sariss. Hope all goes well and you guys cross back as landed :)

Anyone else have issues landing? Tried today but apparently Ottawa didn't enter us in the system yet so we couldn't....

You mean you had a COPR and showed up at the border and CBSA refused to honour the COPR?

Wow. That would be a MAJOR gaff...

Pretty much. Ottawa failed to put the final step into their system so they can't finalize it. We have been dealing with immigration all day. Waiting on a phone call now...

Ugh, that sucks. I hope everything works out ok for you though.

We got it! The immigration officers here spent most of the day working with Ottawa and we finally landed tonight!

Congratulations!

I have to assume that the CBSA folks were helpful. This is only the second time I've read of a situation like this arising...

Looks like their timeline may be a bit more useful to you than mine haha

Welp, looks like I'm the sneaky one just sneaking on in! I hope I updated everything correctly. I just followed the pattern of organization by app receipt in Mississauga.
