Global Case Management System. That's the computer system that CIC uses (replacing Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System - CAIPS). I understand it is also supposed to replace FOSS (Field Operations Support System) that was used for processing in-Canada paperwork. Hence the "global" part of it.

"computergeek" suits you!

I was just wondering how long it took for everyone to get their COPR from when they sent in their passport. I sent in our scanned copy on Dec. 20th and we are getting close to the average so I was just curious. Also how long did you guys get to land? My husband's medical hit the year mark on Dec 16th but when we got his PPR they didn't require to get a new one done so I don't really have much to base what his land by date will be. Thanks!

It seems to take about a month, but of course the holidays might add a week onto that.

If you didn't get a request to re-do medicals, they extended them. Normally they are extended by exactly one year.

Your COPR is good through the expiration of your medicals or your passport, whichever is soonest.

Seriously. haha

computergeek, someone should be paying you for all of the useful and helpful advice that you give on this message board, I don't think you get enough credit for all that you do here. Everyone, don't take this person for granted! They may have very well saved you from a returned application, major delays, or even worse, a refusal. Remember to say please, and thank you to those who help you, it really can go a long way =)

The same goes to Sweden and parker and all of the others who always have an answer for us, usually within minutes of us asking a question. I appreciate your help and advice always and my application process has been way more smooth than it would have been if I hadn't come here and seeked answers.

Speech is over now =)

Ok..since the subject came up and I've been trying to figure this out , too...
The whole car importing thing has me baffled. If you look at the list of allowed vehicles, some of it is kind of limited..BUT it also seems to contradict itself. My car is old..a 1995 Lexus given to me by my dad. I assumed it would be too old to be allowed, but the more I read I have to wonder.
I've been planning to just sell it and get one in Canada when I'm able, but it would be nice to not be carless.
Are the model years allowed strictly enforced?

Not a direct answer to your question but you should seriously consider just buying a car when you get here. The out of province inspection could yield a repair bill that's worth more than your '95 Lexus. There's a chance there won't be much that needs to be addressed but if you don't have that much of an attachment to the car then you should sell and buy one after you move.

I would just call them. We talked to the border plus GM (Hubby has a chevy) local here and they explained it to us to the final detail so it would really help to just call and see what they say :)

zero.. I know. That's been my issue, really. I'll likely sell it, just because I'd rather put the money I'd spend on it after landing toward a newer one. The sad thing is I actually love the car and it's in great shape.
But sports cars are not really good family cars. :D

Parker.. thank you. If I can't part with it, I'll definitely do that.

Well said Shylox. The information and help from computergeek, Sweden, parker24 and others has been invaluable. Also everyone that keeps the spreadsheets updated deserves a huge thank you as well.
I have learned so much and am still learning as we all work through this process.
Thank you all :)

Take a look at riv.ca They have a list of admissible vehicles online and are really helpful if you call them too.

If you are able to import the car, take a look at my post here with step-by-step instructions on how to import the car at http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/leaving-the-us-to-land-in-canada-in-16-days-anyone-have-time-for-a-onceover-t105182.0.html;msg1474430#msg1474430

If I had the extra cash, I would find a way to send gift baskets or something to those people who help us everyday :D

I think a positive attitude, words of encouragement, a good sense of humour and being as helpful as possible goes a long way in saying thank you.

I can provide a sense of humor(I corrected the spelling for you hehe)! I try to be as helpful as possible around here but I think some people don't appreciate my straight up honest approach to advice :-[
