Citizenship reference check gone wrong

Citizenship office (Mississauga, ON) called my friend whose reference i gave but he got confused as he has two friends with same name. He told the officer about the other person and the office got confused. The citizenship officer called me and I explained that there might have been some confusion and you can call him again but she said it's okay and they will make a decision. This all happened today.

Is that a deal breaker? Can they refuse just bcoz of this reason?

The current status is "decision made"
test was good...i got 19 correct and my wife got 20 correct :) . Interview went well. I provided all the documents that were requested.
She said she has no concerns, just a final check from RCMP and then you should get an invite..but today this call thing happened so I am a bit confused :(
She told me that she was the same officer I met on 11th June 2018 and she had all the details I provided for my friend and application. She just told me that your friend said you guys have not met in last 2-3 years.

Yes I provided job reference letters as well, I am not sure if she called them or not. I know for sure that she called my friend (not from work).

I was asked to provide the reference/other details as my application went for detailed review few months ago. I got test invite after that so thought everything is clear now.
If indeed everything else is in good order, NO discrepancies or omissions in the information you have provided IRCC, the odds are very good this will NOT be a problem . . . and, in particular, the Decision Made signals ALL IS WELL.

Now you can wait and watch for a notice to attend the oath.

Again, however, that is assuming everything else is in order, your information was complete and accurate, which it appears is indeed the case. (I am only emphasizing this because it is a critical element . . . not because there is any hint of this being an issue and indeed, your report strongly suggests there is NO such issue.)

In the meantime, your report about this is helpful for the forum in general. (So, thank you for your posts.) Like you, numerous other applicants received a PPQ - QAE and had to provide a reference. Your report suggests that it would be a good idea for these applicants to occasionally remind the reference that they have agreed to be a reference for the citizenship application and that IRCC may indeed contact them.

Leading to . . .

OTHER OBSERVATIONS RE PPQ - QAE:

The OP here is an applicant who, it clearly appears, received a PPQ-QAE, a "Physical Presence Questionnaire - Quality Assurance Exercise," which numerous other applicants have reported receiving, usually around the time the application received IP status.

The PPQ - QAE is discussed in multiple threads, a couple or more referring to Quality Assurance Exercise in the title, and is discussed in-depth in particular in the separate thread titled "RQ versus Physical Presence Questionnaires, including CIT 0205"
see https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/rq-versus-physical-presence-questionnaires-including-cit-0205.534082/

This "exercise" includes multiple requests in addition to the PPQ form itself. Among these requests the applicant is asked to submit a "reference" (assuming the box for this request is checked on the cover letter). The reference needs to be someone who "can answer questions regarding [the applicant]'s activities in Canada as well as general questions about [the applicant]: such as work, study, housing, sports, cultural or religious activities, volunteering."

The reference must have known the applicant for at least two years, be a Canadian citizen and reside in Canada, an adult, and must AGREE to have his name and contact information entered on the form provided to the applicant and to be submitted. The reference may not be a family member. (Just noticed the form only refers to a male reference, "his" name; hmmmm. Obviously an oversight, but still deserving a hmmmm.) Contact information to be provided includes address, home and work telephone numbers, and occupation.

The fact that the form mandates the reference "agree" to be a reference obviously requires the applicant to discuss this with the reference.

As I noted above, the OP's report is helpful for other applicants who have had to respond to the PPQ - QAE, since it suggests that it would be a good idea for these applicants to occasionally remind the reference that they have agreed to be a reference for the citizenship application and that IRCC may indeed contact them.
