Why is the CIC Application Status checking is not working from morning? Is something going on? I am getting timed out from morning..

They might be doing a server maintenance...its not working for me either ...!!! new govt and this happens ... not sure whether it has a connection or not

Thanks. I thought that perhaps they were doing a mass update. I was just hoping to see an update.

Someone in September page has called CIC and got some information that I thought it is also useful for us. I paste it here:

"Same here... No update... I just called CIC and ask for an update about my application submitted in Sept 2014. He said, the immigration officers are waiting for the clearence of Criminal Background checks for bulk applications submitted in Aug/Sept. I also said, how come Express Entry applicants are getting it within 6 months and he replied he has no update but they are doing everything they can to process it fast. He also confirmed that there are no issues with our applications, its just he can't do anything"

Does anybody knows how CIC return or reject files, does they send it you your file by canada post directly to your home, or email, how does it work? I have received one notice from Canada post today but it will be acctually be available tomorro in the post office, I have not ordered anything online in years now, I am not expecting any postal deliveries from anyone. except it could be police sent me charge notice for a car accident I was involved in few months ago. I am just wondering what is it.

Temporary foreign workers

Currently, the federal government only allows temporary foreign workers that are considered "high skilled" to apply for permanent residence. So-called "low skilled" temporary foreign workers do not have a pathway to permanent residence.

The federal government should adopt Manitoba's provincial nominee model, which allows all temporary foreign workers, regardless of skill level, to apply for permanent residency.

Manitoba's model recognizes that employers in rural and remote areas have more difficulty recruiting Canadians for positions.

As long as employers prove there are no Canadians or Canadian permanent residents willing and able to take a job, Canada should provide a pathway to permanent residency for these workers.

In implementing the Manitoba model, McCallum would do well to work closely with new Employment Minister MaryAnn Mihychuk of Winnipeg.

Mihychuk was a minister in the provincial government, which administered the Manitoba provincial nominee program.


Prioritizing provincial nominees

Currently, the vast numbers of fast-tracked permanent resident applicants go through the federal government's express entry system.

Express entry allows individuals selected by the federal government to obtain permanent residency in as little as six months. Meanwhile, the majority of applicants applying to provincial nominee programs must wait years for permanent residency. In some cases, the wait can be over 4½ years.

Canada's provinces and territories have a better understanding of their local job markets. The federal government should immediately place provincial nominees on the same fast-track as express entry applicants.

Hi - Quick question. Can I complete my Medical in advance? I live in Toronto and have the application number? Applied in August 2014 but haven't received any response yet.

With all the delays, I am wondering if it would be better to complete Medical in advance to save some time after they send the request. Please let me know. Thank you.
