Guys I applied for the BOWP yesterday with all of your kind assistance offcourse but I made a major mistake while filling the form.

For the question "country of issue of your passport".....i wrote my home country (country of citizenship )...even though my passport was issued by my country's embassy in Ottawa,Canada.
I am really worried about it.any suggestions on what can I do now to rectify that?...thank you.

Its right. I believe that You should write down your home country. That's also what I did. I renewed my passport in Vancouver, but my country of nationality that gave me the passport.

No worries, "place of issue" is not the same as "country of issue." You wrote the correct name.

you wrote right

Hello,

Do you think I can apply even if I don't have my AOR or even case number yet as my visa runs out the same day I can apply for BOWP so I was just wondering if maybe I could apply sooner but if I do I wont have a case number? Do you think if i write a letter to state this it might be ok?

ur right on ur country of issue. As Jes-On mentioned, place of issue is not same as country of issue. mine too was issued in Ottawa but I wrote back home. It is not a mistake at all.

Hi guys!
Quick question please. I am completing my BOWP Application online. In regards to the Digital photo I am wondering: do you just scan 1 single passport sized photo (according to the required dimensions) OR do you scan all 4 passport sized photos into 1 document. It only states Photo so I am assuming they only want 1 photo however, just checking to make sure I am doing the right thing. Thank you

Thank you Karioca. ;)

I got a Bridging Open Work Permit a month ago.

My timelines are here.

Application of PR
May 22, 2012 Application received (under CEC)
Sep 20, 2012 AOR received
Jan 23, 2013 Medical requested
Jan 31, 2013 Medical done

My previous work permit was scheduled to be expired on 1 March 2013.

Application of BOWP
Dec 25, 2012 Applied BOWP on-line
Feb 14, 2013 Requested the offer of employment
Feb 15, 2013 Uploaded explanation letter (Why I don't need to provide the offer of employment)
Feb 28, 2013 No response from CIC office even though the normal processing time was passed
Feb 28, 2013 Made a phone call to CIC call centre
Agent told me my work permit was issued on Feb 25, 2013 and will be delivered
Feb 28, 2013 Found it was delivered (Issued: Feb 25, 2013, Valid until: Feb 25, 2014)

In my case, it was sufficient to apply BOWP with AOR received.

I am new here, can I ask what does AOR mean? thx

Hi Guys,
Firstly congratulations to all of those who have successfully received their BOWPs and for good luck to those who are in the process of.

I was wondering, I have a closed work permit which expires in Sep 2014, I was laid off last month (March 2013). I know that you need to have 4 months left on your WP to apply for BOWP and also an AOR with a file number.

Guys, I am desperate and out of a job and cannot find an employer willing to provide me with an LMO to get back into the work force. The bills keep piling up and there is no source of income.

Do you think that it will be a good idea for me to take a chance and apply for BOWP / OPEN WORK PERMIT much sooner - without the AOR as I will be submitting my application for PR next month (May 2013), so atleast with this BOWP I can get back into the workforce an earn a living.

Please advice.

Hi guys,

I am going to apply BOWP online as my work permit will expire in June. I have a quick question, Schedule 1 (IMM0008) (questions about education, personal history, previous addresses etc.)is listed as one of the optional documents. Do we need to submit it? and under what circumstances we should submit it?
I believe I already submitted the same form for CEC appplication. Please advise?

Thanks and good luck everybody!!

Hi there

I am new to this forum. I wanted to ask - my current work permit expires 20th June 2013, and I shall be submitting the documents under CEC category
one month prior. Is it a realistic deadline to receive AOR, and submit application for BWOP before 20th June? If not, can you suggest alternative options on how to handle this scenario?

Thank you so much
Best
Sarka
