Did you call cic and check? Paper applications have longer processing times - Currently they're processing applications received on jan 26th. You should get yours soon !

Hi there,

I applied for BOWP 3days before my work permit expired by mail on Feb 1st . I have explained in a letter to them that I will send my AOR as soon as I received it. So, I did attach my AOR and send it again. I haven't heard anything back from them. It has been almost 2 and a half months since I submitted for my application.
Could anyone help share some information why this could happen. Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.

Hi All,

Got my bowp on 22nd April applied online on 3rd march. Had gotten my aor on 1st march.

Here's my story -
I currently have a closed work permit expiring in march 2014. My current employer is ending my contract in June 2013. Hence, I had to apply for open work permit in order to get new job(without lmo). I had written a detailed letter explaining this.

So, even though the bulletin says current work permit should be expiring in 4 months, cic may take some exceptions !

Thanks for your reply. I didn't call them. I'm not sure what the phone number is. Oh I read the processing time for BOWP paper based application takes 88 days processing time. I hope I got mine soon!

CIC didnt ask me to send my closed work permit back to them. Does CIC normally do this? I was told that anyone can have multiple valid work permit at the same time (usually for different employers).

I guess there is no specific processing time for BOWP. If applied online, same processing time as other online ( new or current employer) applications applies. If applied through paper, I guess the new employer processing time applies.

I may be wrong.

Took me 3 months to get the BOWP.
They received my paper application on Jan 25th and issued me a BOWP on April 23, 2013.
I received it 1 week later.

Processing time for paper means BOWP was like 80 sth days back in Jan and early Feb if my memory works fine
