Re: Finally, our application has been approved. Thanks guys!

I was so happy to see the message that our application has been approved. I check it out on CIC website just now.
My husband and I applied for BOWP on Apr.30th 2014.
After application, we've just received only one email that our status was updated.
And no other message or email from CIC.

It made me so nervous cuz my husband work permit was until May 31st, 2014.
Even though I try to calm down my self still...you know...lots of doubts and checking continuously and disoppointed....

Anyway, this website was really helpful and many thanks for Toby and iamelle.
Hope good luck to everybody. ;)

**When I check our status on cell phone, I couldn't open and check the message.
I use my computer find out that our status was closed and application has been approved.
It is possible that application has been approved already few days ago...so even though there is said that no new message, but still need to open the message button and check it out. I didn't know that....haha.... ;D

Just received my BOWP :-D

Applied by mail at the end of March 2014 as at the time; I hadn't received my Acknowledgement of Receipt (AoR). Included a cover letter explaining the situation and everything went just fine.

Congratulations wondergem :)

Hi all.! In panic mode so need some help/advise...
So here is my situation:
Applied for PR under CEC March 2014 end, got AOR 2nd week April.
Currently on open work permit, which will end mid of June 2014. Need to apply for BOWP but the call center agent for immig department said i cannot apply for BOWP because i still haven't received a 'positive' confirmation on my PR application.
Now my questions:
Do i have to get my employer to apply for an LMO?(don't want to because will change jobs as soon i get my PR)
I tried applying for BOWP online but am unable to do so.(the questionnaire says i need an LMO)
My work permit will end in 4 weeks. SOS!!!

1. Once you receive AOR you're becoming eligible for BOWP (assuming you're meeting all other requirements for BOWP). Just apply and don't listen to CIC rep. - they sometimes may give incorrect info. Attach explanation letter to your online application with copy of AOR letter.
2. When applying for BOWP online you will be asked if you have job offer. You should answer "No" to this question, as you don't need job offer for open work permit. Otherwise you will be asked to provide LMO.

Some of these call center agents are unreliable. They give different answers and read from the same webpage you are reading.

If you got the AOR, you can apply for the BOWP. My husband and I applied for BOWP just the day after when we received AOR. And our application was approved. ;)

I know that this question is not about BOWP but its about OWP, and I posted it on other places on this forum and seems like nobody can give me the answer. So I'm just hoping that somebody here could..

On cic web site under "who can apply for open work permit" last one says "if You are a professional athlete allowed to enter Canada and you need to do other work to support yourself while playing for a Canadian team."

Does that mean that person who is here on work permit as a professional athlete can apply for open work permit too? And under what conditions?

Thank You all so much

I am applying for BOWP (currently on WP, AOR for CEC received in Jan 2014) as my visa expiring the end of Sept 2014. I am not taking extension from my current employer.

Could anyone let me know the answer for Q.No: 3 of application form IMM 5710. Its urgent as I have to apply tonight...please ......anyone respond.

What should I say if I have to apply for bridging open work permit---

(1) A work permit with the same employer
(2) An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer
(3) Restoration of your status as a worker
(4) Temporary Resident Permit

Could you also confirm, if I need to provide proof of new employer (offer letter etc)?
At this stage I do not have any offer from new employer(s)

Do NOT provide any employer specific information. BOWP is an OPEN work permit and not tied to any employer.
