Do NOT provide any employer specific information. BOWP is an OPEN work permit and not tied to any employer.

But there is section on "Employment" on page 3 of IMM 5710, where we need to provide information of the current employer

^I just wrote "NA; BOWP" on those items.

Thank you, One last question, do we need to undergo medicals for BOWP and should provide this information?

^I already had my Medicals from the CEC application, so I just uploaded the receipt from that.

Not really sure, but if you choose "More then 6 months" or "Permanently", on the "Coming to Canada" tool, the checklist will include a medical exam.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-temp.asp

So if you had a medical exam within the last 12 months that may be used. If not, I suggest you do so since you will need one anyway for the PR application.

I did medicals in Sept 2013 (applied CEC in Nov 2013) before applying for CEC. Do you think it is still valid and I can use the same MRs for both CEC and BOWP

Hi, I am approved for a new work permit, it says.

"Permit - WP-EXT" (was that mean open work permit? because I didnt apply one)

But on my application, I include letter of support for Provincial Nominee.

PS: Is all the Extension of work permit always open? I would be really happy if it is. :D :D

Update for everyone applying for a TRV using their BoWP:

- I applied online for a TRV last June 1 (a Sunday)
- One of the items on checklist is of course the new WP
- Since I will be travelling soon and would like to apply ASAP to have time to still send the passport once approved, I submitted my application without the WP (processing time was 18 days at that point)
- I uploaded instead the Confirmation letter which was auto-generated when the WP was approved
- I explained in my letter that I will submit a copy of the WP once I receive it, but have submitted an application since I will be travelling soon
- This morning, I got the passport request; 5 days of processing was an unexpected relief

Hi, could anyone please clarify, what should I choose in the form for BOWP: I am applying for a "work permit with a same employer", or "initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer"??
I understand that it is a OWP, and I do not need to put any employer details (even though I am working and will be working at the same employer).

Thank you!

You can choose either one:
Work with the same employer
Work with the new employer

What the question is really asking, is whether this is an application for an extension (it isn't). As noted above, for an initial BOWP application: just pick one.

Keep in mind that it might be slightly quicker to select the "new employer" option - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp

Applied for BOWP on May 23 & got the approval message on June 5th ... now waiting for the actual WP to be mailed ..

my previous WP was expiring on May 30th.

Hello My wife is a school teacher and she is the main applicant and I am dependent on her(on Open workpermit). We have applied for the PR under CEC class, Now we want to apply under the BOWP for both of us. As she is a teacher should she go for medicals and also its been less than 6 months I have arrived to Canada. Please advise to apply for BOWP do we both have to go for medicals and if we do our medicals now this can be used under the CEC PR class.

Just got email from cic, it says application has been approved... What next?? Nothing is written and no attachment. I applied on 27 th may.
