hey guys.. sorry to interrupt but I just wanted to share some info with you all. I received a letter in the mail today requesting the payment of the PR fee which I just did right now. And my husband did his medicals on Tuesday.. so that means he should be here in about 5 weeks? so excitinggg!!!! ;D

That's great news! Hopefully the VO processes the payment and medical quickly! Of course Ottawa has to verify the medical, and Mississauga processes the payment, from what I understand, but your journey is almost at an end! Congrats!

When he lived in Canada, was he with a Student-Visa? or was he under his parents' application of Refugee?

I asked because if he was deported, even though he was a minor and under his parents' consent (not his), he would have to apply for an ARC...

If he does, that would increase his wait time...

I had to apply, I was a minor and under my parents' application of Political Asylum...
I started this long journey on May 2012...

i just looked online and i found this on the CIC website..

1. Departure Order (form number IMM 5238)

a) If you received a Departure Order and

left Canada within the required 30 days and
verified your departure with a Canadian immigration officer at the port of exit

you do not need an ARC. You may return to Canada subject to normal examination at the port of entry.

they left within the 30 days required, so i am guessing he doesn't need to apply for this. i am gonna call immigration and ask them on Monday anyway..just to be sure.. Thank you

Visa is en-route from Canada to Ecuador, with estimated delivery on Nov. 21. Plane tickets are booked and confirmed with my husband (FINALLY) arriving into Vancouver on Dec 8!!! I can't believe it!!! Well worth the wait! Good luck to all of you!

hey guys my ecas changed from medicals received to in process... it says they started processing our app on nov 13, but when my wife got the AOR from bogota said that they had started processing the app in oct so thats kinda weird!!
In another note I see there are a few of us getting very close to the end of this journey so CONGRATS AND ENJOY!!!

Hi everyone, I'm from Ecuador, being sponsored by my canadian husband, our papers were received on novembre 3, 2011, they got transfered to the canadian embassy at bogota on january 3, 2012, today is november 19 and I received a calling where they indicated me I will have the interview next wednesday on november 28, 2012 at Quito, because my husband asked the interview to be done in my country ecuador, even though the embassy that makes this procces is located in bogota, colombia...so I would like to know if anybody could tell me or give me an idea of what happens after the interview, will they ask me my passport? will they tell me in the interview if they will give me the visa? and when will I get the visa after the interview? thanks...Im going to the interview with my husband becuase he is been visiting in my country for some months now...I appreciate your replies and any good avices for the interview.

Here is a link showing questions you could potentially be asked at the interview. If your husband is going to the interview, it is possible they will interview him as well. From what I understand, if this happens, they usually interview partners seperately, not together.

It's hard to say what will happen after the interview. The VO may or may not tell you if they feel you've "passed" or satisfied their concerns. I've heard of different situations where sometimes they will request your passport, sometimes they won't. It just depends on the Visa Officer. If they do request your passport, that would likely be a good indication that you've satisfied the visa officer, but it still may take some time to get the visa. It seems from reading other posts that Bogota has been requesting passports earlier in the process, sometimes 3-4 months prior to issuing the visa. Since every case is different, it's difficult to say what will happen, as it is entirely up the the visa officer interviewing you! Good luck!

PS. Its too bad your interview is so soon. You could have ordered your GCMS notes to see what exactly the concerns are and why they want an interview. It could have helped you prepare for it, but it takes 30 days to get the GCMS notes.

I would imagine your interview will be fine. The fact that your husband is in Ecuador with you right now, and has been living with you is good proof that your relationship is real.

I emailed the embassy to notify them that our ECAS status appeared to have not been updated since January. The passport was requested in July (so I am presuming they are processing the case). Amazingly when I checked today, ECAS had indeed been updated:

"We started processing xxx application on November 20, 2012."

This leads me to believe that the status shown in ECAS is NOT the date they started processing the case, but is in fact the date they updated ECAS.

We should be receiving our CAIPS notes next week. I'll be very interested to see what they say.

Ecas isn't known to be reliable! I don't even bother checking it anymore!
