I know the feeling.
They requested my passport on Feb 7 2012.
I received the letter Feb 22 2012.
I sent my passport the first week of March 2012.

Today, Nov 1 2012, I have not heard anything in regards to my passport.

I know my case may be a bit different since I had to apply for an ARC but it is still taking them quite the time.

There is another forum (Just Spanish). There are people there that have been waiting for months also.

We aren't the only ones.
I am not sure what's going on in Bogota.

Good news though: Yesterday one of the members of the other forum received a phone call. It was the VO telling her that her visa was ready for pickup.

have you tried contacting them? i'm thinking i need to, but you've been waiting wayyy longer than me!

No news yet I'm afraid. I will email at the end of next week to double-check they really got the marriage certificate this time.

Unfortunately the medicals expire this month, so I think that is going to delay things more. We are hoping for January or February.

Background Checks,

We waited till we received a letter from the embassy with instructions to pay Banco de Occident. All the relevant information is included in the documents you receive from the embassy. Included in the envelope were barcoded stickers with the applicant's file number ie F0000XXXX. Once you have made payments at the bank you peel off one sticker and attach it to the receipt you have received from the bank and then in our case couried it to the embassy. My wife used Serviente( sp a Colombian courier like fedex/dhl) and are pretty efficient.

After about 3weeks or so we received another email from the embassy with instructions to redo the medicals since they have expired. I was hoping that they would extend the medicals as per new rules. Anyway we have booked an appointment for Tuesday next week. We are practically following their instructions. My wife is in Colombia and i am in Canada.
Hopefully the next email or letter will be for PPR (passport request)!
Also as word of advice amigos, please ensure that you also check the spam folder in your mail. For some reason unbeknownst to me the mail from the embassy seems to be dropped in the spam folder. It has happened with some people to the extent that they missed it, and it delayed the process for some.

When the embassy sent you the letter with the barcode stickers, did it come by courier or 4/72, or other company???

Finally got an AOR from Bogota today. Hopefully that follows quickly by a request to make the payment for the police checks!

ccunnington,

I just checked with my wife, Her documents were delivered by a courier and the name of the courier is Servientrega. She used the same courier to send the receipts to the embassy.

Since you have recieved an AOR from Bogota, i guess you are getting pretty close to recieving the envelope with barcode stickers.

I am looking at your profile, did your wife do the medicals after you sent the application to missisauga?? if so your medicals are valid for till next year

Ya we waited to do the medicals, so they are valid until Sept. 2013. Hopefully within the next week or 2 we get the barcode stickers for the police checks.

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to share some good news with you guys today… This morning we receieved and email requesting the updated medicals for my husband. This sounds like good news as I dont think theres anything else they can ask for after this that will delay the visa. Does anyone know how long the wait is for the visa after the medicals are done?
;D

Well first of all, it takes Ottawa between 3-6 weeks to process your medical. Ours showed up after 5 weeks. After that, I'm not sure how long it will take for your case officer to review the files and finish processing....hopefully not long!

My wife's medicals were delivered to Ottawa on Oct 31st. The email says they take 3 weeks to process the medicals. So if Bogota gets it end of Nov, I am hoping end of Dec we should get the passport back.

Agreed. This is what happened to two of my friends.
