i want to send an email to the embassy in beirut i want to ask about the documents i sent coz it is been a montn now since last sent and nothing new yet . they asked for a copy of my passport i sent them the first two pages and it shows that my passport is expired but as u know on the next page ther is the renwal date . i didnt noticed that when i sent the expired date i shoud ve send it do u think i must explain this in the email . or no need to email them at all and lets wait few days ?

I suggest you email them the missing pages, and tell them you found out through your "sent" folder that somehow some pages were not attached correctly

Hi Sue,

Just like Chris suggested I would send the missing pages with your file number etc and write anote syaing that your passport is valid and you have renwed it but didnt attach the renewal pages.

Does anyone know of how the international driving license works in Alberta? I heard that if you have one from Lebanon you can drive with it but you would need to do the full test to get the Alberta one.


In Alberta the law is that we have to get a learner's license and hold it for a year before we get a full license. I am guessing that having an international driver's may allow you not to wait a year but I dont know. I wanted to call them today and ask but I thought someone might have an idea?

This is the story from the motor vehicle Registry office. If he has the lebanese driver license that doesnt really exempt him from doing class 7 or learner's.
If he has the International Driver Permit. Thaat would allow him to drive for a year with it.
So when you first come you can do class 7 and use IDP to drive for a year and after that year he can do and get class 5 driver's.

I dunno why I thought that if we are PR we cannot drive on the IDP..

No problem, When I asked the person from registry about getting exempt from doing class 7, she said since Lebanon's driver license is not reciprocal (not one of the countries on the list) so he can't get exempted.

My husband will get one. From your experience how long does it take to get it? Do you do a test? How much is it? and Where did you get it at?

Honestly I did it on my first visit to Canada 2 years ago so i only remember that it costs 100$, valid for one year, and I did not do a test since you only get it based on your Lebanese driver license...a family friend who does these things like licenses and stuff got it for me..a couple of weeks for sure not more to get it
