Guys if they issue only few hundreds CSQ this year, is it gonna reduce the process time at the federal stage? Since this whole process is a suspense story and after CSQ there is 24 months of thriller journey waiting ahead for us where anything can happen. Most probably for many of us this whole process of Quebec immigration is gonna take in the range of 3 to 5 years or more for some of the bill 9 candidates if we survive
No , they are still issuing thousands of CSQs for PEQ program and all of them will be in queue before us in Federal stage , Our situations will be worse than before :-(

Some good new guys , MIFI announced reform of PEQ program today ( They need 3 years of experience instead of 1 year ).
This should stop issuing their CSQ and we can have more opportunity :)

Increased work experience
To promote better integration, in French, of immigrants into Quebec society and to ensure that they meet the needs of the labor market, the Government of Quebec will rely on increased work experience under the Program of the Quebec experience.

Temporary foreign
worker Temporary foreign workers will now have to accumulate 36 months of full-time work experience during the 48 months preceding their request for permanent selection. A transitional measure has been provided for all temporary foreign workers with a valid work permit before the coming into force expected in the coming weeks of the new regulation.

Quebec graduate
A 12 or 24 month full-time work experience will now be required for foreign graduate students wishing to submit a permanent selection request to the PEQ. Those who hold a valid post-diploma work permit before the entry into force of the regulation may submit their request in the Temporary foreign worker section if they meet the conditions to benefit from the transitional measure provided.

The PEQ was a B plan for me... Now it's dead.
I could have been elligible in one month... But only people with opened file will not be concerned...
Now I would have to work 2 more years with a permit expiring in late 2020...

I wonder how people will do to have a 3 years long work permit...

This is actually a great move. All this time I have been very critical of CAQ govt. But this one is great move by CAQ govt. Many have been abusing PEQ category. Some people come here just to get PEQ with no employable skills and marginal education in some shady colleges in Quebec other than passing a French test. Then they end up working in TimHortons or something like that. This is detrimental to Quebeckers as employers always looks for cheap labour.
This will put an end to those who abuse PEQ category. They have also stopped QIIP, probably something to prevent abuse is planned for QIIP too.

Good News of IT guys a Pilot program

Artificial intelligence and information technology industry
Artificial intelligence and information technology are at the heart of Quebec's economic development strategy. These sectors are booming and it is essential to promote the attraction and retention of specialists able to contribute to the influence and competitiveness of Quebec in these sectors on the international scene. The implementation of a pilot program aims to meet this challenge. The latter will make it possible to reserve up to 550 CSQs annually for the selection of immigrants working specifically in these areas with high added value.

The reform makes sense, but as a result, many students may leave the province after graduation, and many schools will have difficulty to find international students. The requirements become too high for PEQ, it is probably easier to get PR through Express Entry. This may also make Arrima invitations much more competitive.

In Express Entry too, there is work experience requirement. PR thru Express isn't easier, the skill set required is greater. I think now Arrima will be on par with Express Entry (if you exclude the other idiosyncrasies like Federal backlogs and red tape inherent to Quebec). International students in Quebec shudnt count on loop holes in the system to get easy PR. Let them work for 3 years and earn their PR like everyone else. Thats the intent of "skilled economic immigration". All this while Quebec immigration was an easy route for unskilled candidates who is looking for an easy way to get into Canada. I know some of them speak neither English nor French !
It was a joke. Not anymore.

I think this reform can have an impact in federal processing time too. The federal should normaly have time to clear the backlog before 2021
