The issue is whether one is an "In Canada" applicant or "Out of Canada" applicant.

If in Canada then it does not matter as long as your PP is valid, however, if out then to travel one needs at least 6 months on their passport.
Let n=me put my Q in this way:

1) I am in Cananda
2) My passport is going to expire in June 2017.
3) Suppose I get PPR Email in May 2015,

My Q:

1) Do we get visa stamped in Passport once we send passport to CIC (After PPR email)
2) Answer 1 is yes, then visa validity period is for how many month/Year ?

Thanks

Q1. YES

Q2. 5 Years (if that is what the initial PR is for)

However, you will not be able to travel in/out of Canada (apart from US) after Dec 2016 because most countries require passports to be valid for at leats 6 months.

Just a generic Q.
CIC provide visa stamp for 5 Year validity irrespective of PP expiry date?
As of I know It issue visa for 5 year not till the validity of PP.

Visa matches the CoPR. In my case says 12/22/2015. As soon as you land, they cross your visa with a pen to make it invalid (I believe). Or at least, this is what they have done with mine.

Great Thanks
You clarified it :)

Don't understand what you are saying

What about those who don't need a visa.

Nothing. In that case, you should be fine. The question was about the CoPR and the VISA issued after PPR - or at least - what I understood.

LOL Amisnic really? You put me negative because of my reply? I think you should read firstly before replying without paying attention. You have being warned in several threads about your attitude. Anyways, no more replies to you. I should have done this long time ago.

Yeah because your answer is incomprehensible, unless it is coded in some way. Can you explain like you would to a 6 year old please?

What a laugh - and you give me negative feedback simply because I gave one for your response???

Sjulien,

In your case, I believe you are the one who contacted them (CIC) first with a query right ??
And then they responded to your query with a new passport copy request.

But otherwise, most cases are like mine, if you are in Canada. CIC won't make it an issue, as long as the passport is still valid, when you send it to them for visa & COPR.

And congrats, by the way on your PPR request. All the best for your future.

In my case, they asked me new/valid passport copy and passport will be expired in November 2015.

Anyway, I got new passport in 3 weeks and updated to CIC. After, 10 days(yesterday) I got ready for visa mail.

It is depends on VO whether they wants new passport or new.

Relax guys...

Amisnic, you got the question wrong from CEC_1304.

1) Do we get visa stamped in Passport once we send passport to CIC (After PPR email)
Yes
2) Answer 1 is yes, then visa validity period is for how many month/Year ?
Validity of visa & COPR are different from the validity of PR.
You will not get 5 years validity on the visa(in the Passport) & COPR.

Once you send the PP to CIC after the passport request, they will issue a visa and COPR up to a maximum validity of 1 year.
This validity could be less than 1 year if your passport will be expiring in less than an year or until 1 year from your medical exam date, which ever is earlier.

You should land in Canada within this Validity date, and then after becoming a Permanent Resident of Canada, this permanent residence validity of yours, will be 5 years, irrespective of the validity of your passport.

Canadiian

Hello Everyone.

I applied in CEC in the month of april. I applied under sheet metal worker category. I applied by my self. I have got my file number on july 10,2015. My post grad work permit expires on June 21,2015. I did paper application for bowp. And also I applied for the gcms notes.I have not heard anything back from CEC yet. My status on ecas is stating that my file was received on April 28,2014. In the CEC processing time it shows 12 months on CIC.GC.ca. so I am wondering that 12 months is starting from the date of file received or they provide me the file number.!!!

Please advice what steps I can take in this situation
