You are correct. It was my mistake which I asked. Anyway I am not too late to get Passport reques.
I have already submitted my passport which will reach on Monday.

Good for me that I got my new passport very quick. :)

One more question quy, when will I receive my passport back.....

Sjulien,

In your case, I believe you are the one who contacted them (CIC) first with a query right ??
And then they responded to your query with a new passport copy request.

But otherwise, most cases are like mine, if you are in Canada. CIC won't make it an issue, as long as the passport is still valid, when you send it to them for visa & COPR.

And congrats, by the way on your PPR request. All the best for your future.

Canadiian

Yes this is correct. It depends on medical, passport validity.

Relax guys...

Amisnic, you got the question wrong from CEC_1304.

1) Do we get visa stamped in Passport once we send passport to CIC (After PPR email)
Yes
2) Answer 1 is yes, then visa validity period is for how many month/Year ?
Validity of visa & COPR are different from the validity of PR.
You will not get 5 years validity on the visa(in the Passport) & COPR.

Once you send the PP to CIC after the passport request, they will issue a visa and COPR up to a maximum validity of 1 year.
This validity could be less than 1 year if your passport will be expiring in less than an year or until 1 year from your medical exam date, which ever is earlier.

You should land in Canada within this Validity date, and then after becoming a Permanent Resident of Canada, this permanent residence validity of yours, will be 5 years, irrespective of the validity of your passport.

Canadiian

It takes around 2 weeks (including weekends) to see your tracker active again. Some folks received it early!

So, the officer put some dates in my CoPR after landing, but the last entry date is wrong. Do I have to send it for amendment to CIC? What is the procedure? I doubt I will apply for citizenship because I already have 2 citizenships and I'll have to drop 1 to become Canadian.
Complete this form.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/pdf/kits/forms/IMM1436E.pdf

attached a copy of your CoPR, also attached a copy of my first ever work permit because my first entry date is wrong.

and here's the instructions.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/applications/amend.asp

It will take up to 6 months for the amendment but that doesn't matter really with the new rule on June 2015, the start of the count is 4 yearsfrom being PR not anymore from starting with your work permit.

You don't need to give away your original citizenship, you'll be dual citizenship but I don't know if that is allowed in your country.

Thank you very much! You rock man! I will follow your instruction and amend my CoPR just in case.

Yes, dual citizenship is allowed in my country, but I already have 2. So, if I would like to become Canadian, I must drop 1 of them (I think you can't have 3). Anyways, 4 years is a long run and I'm happy with my PR. No need to worry about this now.

+1 for you!

Hi Everyone,

I have a quick question here.
I received the below note from CIC:

----------------
Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your email.

Your case is currently in queue for review by an officer.

No further action is required on your part at this time. We do not require any information from you at the present time. An officer will contact you if further information is required. Please ensure when submitting documents that they are still valid and will not expire within 6 months as this could delay your application.

We appreciate your patience and ask that you keep correspondence with our office to a minimum. In order to process requests efficiently, we will not be responding to duplicate requests.

Regards,

----------------

My question is they confirmed that "Please ensure when submitting documents that they are still valid and will not expire within 6 months as this could delay your application."

Is it applicable for PCC's as well?
I am from India and stayed in UK. Provided PCC from India and UK. I can't find any validity date for the PCC's as there is no set period of time for which the Police Certificate is considered to be valid.

Kindly confirm on this. I provided my PCC on 28th October and if they have any validity lets say 1 year then both of my PCCs are now expired and the VO still need to review it....

I thought this 6 months validity is only for Medicals and Passports....

Reply awaited...

They are talking about passport. I would suggest to call CIC and ask them to verify your current details. At a same time, apply for GCMS note.

Did you done with medical?

Hello,

I landed yesterday at CIC Etobicke office with my family. Experience was ok except for one thing, which pretty much ruined the whole joy of landing. We didn't have to wait too long, and VO fixed the incorrect entry dates and last entries.

One thing VO refused to fix was our last name, which CIC changed just before sending the COPR. I'm from Scandianavian country, so my name has charater ä in it. On passport it is presented with a having the dosts, so it's ä, but also on bottom section on format, that it can be enetered to any system. So there ä becomes AE.

When we originally came to Canada, the initial work permit I received on the charaters, the dots wee just dropped, so it they became a:s intead of ä:s.

Ok, long story short(ish). Officially my name has never had this AE:s in it. I paid taxes with name I was happy. My youngest child has Canadian passport, and there is no AE, but a. My drivers license has my name in the format I prefer. All other Scandianvians have their name without AE. The hockey player is Selänne or Selanne, but never Selaenne. Kimi Räikkönen is Raikkonen but not Raekkoenen, like CIC would now force him to be.

The VO explained that no, it MUST be like this, since it as to be the same it's in passport. I've never had any issues with workpermits being without any AEs in them.

I've never heard anyone else having this issue, but VO kept her mind. At the moment I didn't think it is such a big deal, but I didn't think all the possible things it will create issues. Just starting with my youngest child. In her birt certificate her parents, me and my wife, will have now different name. Her last name in her passport will now be different than her parents. Our house was bought with different name. Canada Pension Plan paid with different name. Drivers lisence, OHIP, bank accounts, credit history... none of them will match with the name in PR card. It will not just be invonvinient, it will have a huge impact for everything.

Already at next counter getting new SIN, this caused issues, since no one never uses this AE format for anything but chracter translation.

I filled the amend record already yesterday and sent it too with my explanation why the name has to be corrected.

Not sure if any one else had similar experiences. I don't think the French speaking Canadian would like their names with accents converted to something else when they arrive to Ontario, but they should be ok, with just dropping the accent from the character.

Any ideas?
