Applications filed through NS --> Buffalo (Filed from USA)

Today my e-case was updated to show "Complete" as a main link, when i click on that link i see the following:


We received your application for permanent residence on June 8, 2009.

We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on August 19, 2009. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

Your application and supporting documents were received by the Buffalo office. They are pending review.

We transferred your application to the Buffalo office on August 25, 2009. The Buffalo office may contact you.

Your application was reviewed and we started processing on April 30, 2010.

A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

Medical results have been received.

You entered Canada at the Fort Erie Peace Bridge office on September 17, 2010 and became a Permanent Resident.


The last three lines were just added today "all of them together", they jumped immediately from "In Process" to "Complete"


Today as well, i applied for the permanent SIN card, and number at service canada, and got the number in their conformation letter, and the card will be sent to my mail box within 15 working days.

Tomorrow god willing, i will apply for the OHIP card "the medical insurance card"

Congrats again, I planned to apply to SIN as soon as I get the status. I will be landing in Toronto and then visit my cousin in Ottawa so I will have Canadian address for mailing and other stuff. Did you apply for SIN online, or what?

No i did not apply online, i went to service canada building in the following address today morning, and got the process done:

Service Canada 2525 DIXIE Road, Mississauga, Ontario L4Y 2A1


They verified my COPR and my visa with the landing stamp, and took away my temporary SIN card which i got on May, for the Off-campus work permit, and told me that the new SIN card will be sent to my mailing address within 15 working days.

No i did not apply online, i went to service canada building in the following address today morning, and got the process done:

Service Canada 2525 DIXIE Road, Mississauga, Ontario L4Y 2A1


They verified my COPR and my visa with the landing stamp, and took away my temporary SIN card which i got on May, for the Off-campus work permit, and told me that the new SIN card will be sent to my mailing address within 15 working days.

Do not worry, based on the message you received from them, you will get your PPR so soon. I got the same message exactly from Buffalo, and after 5 days of that message, i got the PPR via email.

Then I believe, not as lucky as you. I got that reply 7 days back and nothing yet

Guys, I finally got my PPR today!!!
I am so happy, I cant express it in words...all these months of waiting and ups and downs..and I finally get it today.
Will be sending in my Passport to the NY consulate day after tomorrow with the remaining required documents.

From here begins a new journey, leaving everything behind in US..and moving to Canada...I will be putting in my resignation with a notice period till October end...then I plan to goto India for some time...spend time with family...and come back to Canada and start a new life.
A bit unnerving when you think about it..but, well...this is what we all were after, ain't it!

Cheers to everyone who got movements in their file...hang in there....your time will be coming soon enough.

it used be like that before.. getting SIN by calling their service center. they changed rules from last year, you can't get your SIN online, you have to go to the nearest Service Canada office and get it done.

when i came to SJ some three years back.. i got it online, but last year for my frnd they asked come visit the office personally.

Today, i applied for the OHIP card, and they told me that the card will be mailed within less than 3 months, however, the effective date of the card will be Dec 17, 2010 which is 3 months exactly from the date of my landing "Sep 17, 2010"

do you mean the medicare... yes, medicare coverage starts from the 91st day of your arrival. you are supposed to have your own insurance for first three months.

well, you have to know that medicare doesnt cover many other things like dental, ortho, paediatrics etc...

I know man, I already have been living in canada for more than 2 years. I am just sharing my information with the forum members.
