Thanks mamali hope your case gets in-process and ppr very soon. Any idea why you're not still in-process? Did you hear anything back from them? Have you ordered GCMS notes?

Well, our case isn't still the worst. Besides, if some get ppr in 5 months, I'd say, good for them, why not. Also, there's a general fact that everybody's case is unique, some may get ppr sooner just because their case has been more straightforward.

Having said that, I believe the craziness of all this lies where you see most people whose files are received in Ankara in a particular period have to wait longer, even longer than those whose files arrive months later! This is very clear if you look at lboxixodl's spreadsheet. Note that the last year's strike does not make this look normal or less weird. In a well-managed system with competent workers, if this happens, almost all clients are affected in a similar way. This is not the case here.

The only explanation for this I can come up with is that cases are being passed through different parallel channels, some of which are less overloaded than others. An oversimplified example is a store where people are waiting in a long line with a single cashier. You're in the middle of the line, but suddenly a new, faster cashier gets in and take some people behind you.

I haven't yet talked to our MP, but eventually I will. At least, the VOs will be urged to respond to someone...

I like your cashier example. I'm just happy to see the lines moving at all. But don't wait to contact your MP because once they check, it gives the people in Ankara a little nudge and it could help.

we are ın Turkey so we collected all our papers and we are ready to go to translator and later to notary to wrıte on the photocopıes whats CIC asks: “I certify that this is a true copy of the original document”,
the name of the original document,
the date of the certification,
his or her name,
his or her official position or title, and

But:here the notarıes says the rules dıfferent:they can wrıte(prınt )on the papers these.fısrt a translator wıll wrıte thıs and later only they can wrıte.how ıs thıs possıble?ıs there someone doıng the procedure from tyrkey and talked wıth a notary?ıf someone dıd could gıve me hıs/her contact detaıls?or whatever u know would help me a lot

Unless things have dramatically changed since my husband got his visa, the PPR email states if you want to hand your passport in person you need to go to the following address:
Immigration Section, the Embassy of Canada
Cinnah Caddesi No. 58, 06690, Çankaya
Ankara, Turkey

The PPR email also stated:
You can submit your passports on Mondays and Wednesday between 8:30 and 10:00 am. If you arrive late, you will have to come back the next available day for passport submission. The visas are usually issued the next afternoon. However, there is no guarantee that visa(s) will be issued within this time frame and you may be required to stay in Ankara for a longer period of time.

Although they say there is no guarantee, I have not read about anyone having to wait longer. Typically the receipt they give you (that they took your passport) will say come back the next afternoon (I think at 1:00 or 2:00pm). So if you submit it on Monday morning, you can get it back Tuesday afternoon. If you submit it Wednesday you will get it back Thursday afternoon.

I recommend to arrive before 8:30am. You do not need to arrive at 6:00am as some people do. My husband and I arrived around 8:00am and although there was already a line of people (maybe about 20 people) before us we were able to submit his passport without problems. By 8:30am there was a long line behind us, so I suggest to get there before 8:30am.


If you are giving your passport to an authorised representative, then they should go to the VFS Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Ankara or Istanbul. But if you are giving it yourself, you need to go to the Embassy in Ankara, not the VAC.

Yes, this is the address of the embassy. But in the Email that I have received, it is mentioned that I have to hand in my passport to a specified VAC in Ankara with a given address which is different from that of the embassy. Additionally, it is noted that normally it takes four days for a visa to be issued in Ankara.
While booking the ticket, I considered the one day period that everybody on this forum were talking about and I planned a three-day trip. I made a mistake, because seemingly the procedure has changed. Anyway, we will see in a couple of days what's going on, and Ankara is not that far from Iran, planes are available, like IranAir and Mahan, you can even take a bus to reach there and even trains are available from Tabriz and Tehran. Staying out there for one more day is not an issue at all.

yes i am really worry about that i don't know.
i am man who sponsoring my Iranian wife.
middle of march our lower's received a litter from Ankara that they need some missing document that was not very important and also PPR fee i prepared them
and send them to our lower he sent it back to Ankara less than a week.and also i payed the PPR fee two month before that request i don't know why they ask again any way!!
i thought the cic web site will change to process when they received the document but nothing happened when i ask the lower he said do not worry about that they just didn't up date the site but you are in process definitely security check.
you will get your PPR till end of may!!

Nice "har dam az in baagh bari miresad"; so unfortunately what I thought was a rumor, was real. You're right Mehrdad, Ankara isn't far, but still it's gonna be comparatively hard on Iranians submitting their passport themselves

Wow, I can't believe how things have changed! So no where in your PPR email does it write: "Submitting your passport(s) and documents in-person (all nationalities)" ?????

No worries mamali, your lawyer could be right if the doc they requested was related to Schedule A or Supplementary Information in Appendix A or something related to your background. If that's been the case, it could mean they've started background check on you without updating your online status. Getting GCMS (CAIPS) notes is your best bet to understand what is actually going on in your file. Ask your lawyer to do that, it costs you $5, and becomes ready usually in less than a month. Good luck!

So to save money and time, can Iranians like Mehrdad just come to canada right after they get their visa in Ankara? Or do they have to go back to Iran and get tickets from there to Canada?

They can and I think, many will. I just don't know how Turkey's Customs work in this regard. As a new coming PR to Canada you possibly have lots of belongings and considerable cash. Canada allows you, "as a new PR," to take all of this with you to Canada without having to pay any customs fees, as long as you declare all of them. But what happens when you land in Turkey first with all your belongings to stay for a week? Does anybody know?
