The one-time 2-year initiative regarding 115,000 protected persons

If you follow immigration data and not the news I wouldn’t say that immigration is under control in Canada yet. The government wouldn’t keep on lying about how they have reduced the number of PRs to 380k a year when if you look at their own data carefully it is actually closer to 450k if they...

    Waiting for psr update

299k is asylum claimants and does not represent refugee claimants abroad. Immigration is always in flux. There is data about refugees although that represents private sponsored, government sponsored, etc. Agree that Canada should have stopped accepting new applications a few years ago to...

Less Complex File Review (No Hearing) – Timeline & Decision Waiting

How less complex cases are being evaluated has changed so applications that have received decision before this summer may no longer be relevant. At the moment it appears that all claimants will need a hearing so processing will likely be slower.

Anyone asked for sponsorship verification later in PGP program?

Find it shocking that people think they deserve to sponsor their parents, which is already a burden on Canadian taxpayers, when they don’t plan on to living in Canada.

What is your question then? What is your status and when does it expire? What is your plan?

    Quebec ppr

You have to specify your parents are protected people which not the same as processing for other PR programs.

Protected person updates Quebec ( march 2022-may 2022)

Would suggest working towards other immigration programs or your life will be on hold for 5+ years.

    Waiting for psr update

Processing is typically years and depends on the location. It is somewhat amazing that Canada hasn’t paused processing and acceptance of all PSRs given the volume of asylum seekers and refugees in Canada waiting for PR. The reality is that Canada’s immigration system is only meant to have a...

Anyone asked for sponsorship verification later in PGP program?

Yes you can ask to prove you continue to meet income and residency requirement. a Living abroad for an extended period of time should disqualify you from PGP. The main goal of the program is family reunification of parents and grandparents with their child who lives in Canada.

Can I apply for TRV right after submitting SOWP?

As long as you have a valid TRV or are visa exempt you should be fine. Hopefully you’ll have your OWP by then. I hope you get the TRV in time. Would not rely on the posted pressing times. Would ask about recent experiences to get a more realistic view of processing times people are experiencing.

Protected person updates Quebec ( march 2022-may 2022)

Would suggest posting under the Quebec immigration section. The CSQ process impact all the Quebec applications. Think you need to prepare yourself for long period of time where nothing happens. Although your parents got their CSQ in May 2025 they that is not a long time when it comes to Quebec...

Can I apply for TRV right after submitting SOWP?

IRCC seems to overlook short periods of time out of Canada (a normal vacation time period) but would not suggest going abroad for over a month if you applied inland.

Protected person updates Quebec ( march 2022-may 2022)

Have you looked at processing times? https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html It will take between 5-10 years for you to get PR.

    Guidance on Foreign work experience

I presented examples of PFLs and refusals being sent based on misrepresentation that happens to be on YouTube. If I have time I will try to find the documents posted by immigration lawyers of the PFLs, responses and refusals that site case law. My recommendation still stands that OP should...

H&C 2025 SHARE - AIP, Letters, PR, Refused or Approved

That will be highly unusual. What is your exact timeline for when you got AIP and PR and what were your grounds for H&C?

2025 PR Application Timeline (Protected Person)

The fact that your representative was in Quebec may have lead to you ending up in the Quebec processing queue. Surprised you don’t have AOR yet but it does appear that it is taking a long time for many to receive AOR. If you haven’t received AOR before Christmas then I would order GCMS notes.

2025 PR Application Timeline (Protected Person)

You wait. Processing for Quebec is years. You may need to repeat your medical because it is only valid for a year. VOs do have the ability to waive bye requirement to repeat a medical so you may not have to redo the medical. Make sure you do not get married or become common law or you would no...

2025 PR Application Timeline (Protected Person)

All you do is wait. You don’t have to do anything if you’ve already submitted a complete application. Processing time for Quebec applicants is much longer than people outside Quebec. Would expect processing for you and your parents will take many years.

2025 PR Application Timeline (Protected Person)

You started your application in Quebec so can’t compare to other applications who applied outside of Quebec.

2025 PR Application Timeline (Protected Person)

The fact that you applied in Quebec has likely lead to longer processing time. Have you remained outside Quebec and when did you inform IRCC that you left Quebec and have settled in another province. Changing to outside Quebec processing can take a few months. It is unclear how applications are...
