I called IRCC today, both mine and spouse's medicals are expired now. Agent advised to go and get new "upfront" medical before IRCC requests - that would speed up the process.

I really find this so unfair that they would request new medical when the delay is not due to the applicant. :(

I am hearing this for the first time that an agent suggested to do upfront meds, on contrary the actual process depends on the visa officer. As per my conversation with multiple agents, the first step is visa officer requests for re-evaluation of expired med exam to the IRCC medical officer and then based on the decision of the medical officer, visa officer will either extend your existing med exam or request for re-meds. Medicals should be valid for at least 6 months at the time of approval of a PR application. Considering the current uncertainity with the processing times, I would say its better to wait and get further instructions from IRCC, you may get extention.

P.S.: I am not an expert but in a similar situation.

They also requested a medical for an applicant that had 3.5 months left to the expiry. Not sure how they decide on who should do a new medical.

Maybe you should wait till they request for remed, that's a lot of money especially because you're two. My spouse's medical was extended yesterday, it expired Dec 25th I guess

May be that agent was fresher. Dont go for upfront medical because in 90% case if you are inland they will extend it unless you have something serious. Same thing happened with me but after 1.5 month it got extended and shows pass again.

I got my GCMS notes from CBSA yesterday, they came just under a month after I ordered them. They are pretty confusing and it seems like my eligibility got bounced from passed to not started or similar.
Looks like my primary office is CPC Ottawa and secondary is CPC Edmonton, anyone know if that's good news or can I expect some big delays?

I haven't ordered CBSA notes yet but I also have CPC Ottawa as my primary office and CPC Edmonton as secondary. I'm also just waiting for my criminality, which is currently in progress. Everything else is passed. I know a lot of people say the offices don't matter, but Ottawa sure is taking their time.
