Got medical exam request for my parents today. I'm wondering if they can do the medical exam in Canada (they are coming to visit in two weeks). Did anyone do landing at Niagara Falls border lately? Is it still possible to land there with the border closed?
what is your local visa office?

Hi Everyone, May 29th 2019 applicant here. I received letter requesting passport yesterday. Even though the VO is CPC-M, the letter was issued by CPC-HONG KONG. In the request letter, it mentioned:

" Your Permanent Resident document(s) will expire one year after the date of your medical
examinations or earlier if your passport or the passports of your spouse or dependent children (if applicable) expire on an earlier date. You must travel to Canada and present your immigration documents at a Canadian Port of Entry before they expire. The validity of the Permanent Resident documents cannot be extended."

My parents did their medical in November 16th 2019. It is (almost) impossible to send them the passports, get them back and land in Canada before the one year deadline. Anyone else faced similar issues?
Not many may be your situation but I believe if your parents send the passport now the visa office may expedite the process.
The visa expiry date is one year from the medical pass date that shows up in MyCIC page.

Right now, they are in China. But they will be here in Canada in two weeks. I'm just trying to determine if they can do their medical exams after they arrive in Canada so that they don't need to rush to do it in China before they come here. Thank you.

Thanks much for the clarification. Guess i've to wait until the VAC's open. Also, was wondering if there's a way to know which stage our application is if biometrics are being asked ahead of medical, interview etc? My parents also had their medical during supervisa application so maybe they don't need to get it done again. Not sure if my understanding is right, but do you know the process steps from here and expected timelines? Thank you much in advance
When was the supervisa medical done? Cuz there is only 12 months of validity and it all depend on how long the process of yr PR application take. R u on tracker?

Can be done anywhere but only by panel physician from IRCC list

Hi Guys

I received the AOR in Dec '19 but the status still says "Application received". Is it just me or are there others in the same boat?
Also, if I want to get my parent here in the meanwhile, do I apply for a visitor visa or a Super Visa, someone told me that if parent's sponsorship application is in process you should apply for Super Visa, any inputs on this please.

Thanks

Hey, I got a similar update 2 days ago. How far has you case progressed ? In my case, only biometrics have been submitted
Hi. I just called IRCC today. Everything is passed, medical, background check, the only thing they haven’t started is the eligibility. Hopefully I will receive good news in a couple of weeks. I’m June 7 2019 applicant.

Hello there. I just want to know if anyone of you has the same case as me. I applied for my parents last May 2019. My mother is currently in Canada while my father is in his home country. Everythign has been submitted and we are on the stage waiting for passport requests. We havent received any passport request yet but I did get a call from immigration office telling me that my mom will not be approved unless my father is in Canada too. I wonder why... Is this how it is? THanks...
If both of your parents are here, there is chance that they get COPR soon and they can do virtual landing. If it is possible, it will be best that your father to come to Canada (if already has visitor or super visa).

Hi all
IRCC has requested a social service check on my sponsorship (SSC-ON) in Ontario.
I am June 6, 2019 applicant and file is in process since Dec 2, 2019.

I checked with ontario ministry which handles these cases and i was told that they never received any reqauest and they could not find my application using my application number.

I called IRCC and i was told they have sent the request twice and are waiting for the response.

Any advice?
What can i do?

Thank you
Try to reach your MLA. SSC-ON may take it seriously if you involve MLA. There is another thread of discussion on this:

they have done medical exams in Canada, in the past, maybe 2~3 years ago for visa extension purpose, is that what they are using? or they will ask for new test later?

I guess your application is still in SA stage... right?

Medical exam is good for 12 months from the pass date, those sentences are general, it will change as the application moves to the next step

Curious, how did you find out about this?
Did CIC send you an email about social service check?
