Hello, I am Canadian citizen and my fiance is in Morocco. I have so many questions and I am very confused about all the information I am reading and searching. My first dilemma is the age difference between us, I am 44 years old female and he is 27, but as everyone says, age is just a number. We started talking on social media and soon after i visited him in morocco and we truly fell in love with each other. I need to know if this is going to be a big problem for us or they dont care about things like this. Next question would be, after our marriage, there is a possibility to file a overseas spousal sponsorship in your spouse's home country, which of course would be Morocco, is this true or I would have to come back to Canada and file for sponsorship here together with his permanent resident application. If anyone know about this, please help, information's are so confusing as there is inland process, outland process, meaning if your spouse is back home or already in Canada. Thank you

I agree with the age difference will cause a red flag. Be prepared to supply a lot of photos, letters and acknowledgment that other people know of your relationship and are supportive. Give a lot when they ask for the additional support. I married in Morocco and I returned to Canada to apply. You can apply in Morocco but the process I have heard is way slower. I think we were an exception to the rule as we applied in August of 2019 and my husband came home with me in Feb 2020. Thankfully right before Covid. I’m happy to share any knowledge I have in the process as it is definitely a process, but so worth it. ♥

I'm a Canadian Citizen who started my wife's application (Morrocan lives in Morocco) in January 2020. Immigration Canada received my application 27 Jan 2020.

Medical instructions received 21 Feb 20.
Medical received in March 2020.

I have not heard anything since then.

Does anyone know what is going on with Rabat?

Thank you very much for your response.
I understand that based on the website, the average processing time is 12 months. Is that going to change because of the COVID-19 situation and the fact that Rabat has been closed for a few months now? For example, if Rabat will be closed for 4 months, will the average processing time be 16 months?

Hi there,

I too fell in love with a Moroccan man too. He's in Canada with me for a year. I am 45 and he's 25. I was concerned about all that too..But I went to see him several times over two years before we considered marriage. We went to Turkey together for a trip as well. If you can afford to do that , it will look favorable on your relationship. I know another lady that did the same as well.

Getting married over there is a lengthy process involving a trip to Rabat to get documents to be married over there. We actually went to Rabat one time I went to visit and got married 4 months later on my next visit there. When we got married it took 8 days to get all the process completed. So make sure you plan enough time . There is alot involved.

Once you are married you can apply for the PR yourself in Canada to sponsor him. If I could offer advice make sure to get his signature on the PR application on the last visit you see him before applying. I didn't and spent way too much on international couriers once I was home.

Hope this helps. All the best :)

Is anyone planning to visit their spouse once the border opens up for visitors? (Hopefully open by September 10th)
