Hey all. Havent posted in a while. Just an update for you all.
Well, ive been on hold for over half n hour with CIC waiting to talk to someone.
Im a nurse here in Toronto. Last week i applied for TRV for my spouse, since theres no movement on sponsorship since March. My babysitter is sick, therefore i have no one else to take care of our kids. In TRV application purpose of travel i explained the situation and basically my husband purpose of travel is an essential.
He will be home taking care of our kids while i am at work. I have been doing 12hr shifts since this pandemic. 60% of my coworkers already tested positive. I stated my husband will stay home with the kids and i will stay at hotel with other coworkers, bcus we also have a vulnerable child. So i decided to stay away until i take LOA.
This morning we got biometric request. But the VAC is closed until May 18th, and the airline that goes to VAC country flights suspended until May 19th. My husband booked flight for June 18th. Good thing about that is the VAC country is his citizenship country, so he can be at home with his parents until he gets bio appmt. His country of residence is on lockdown due to covid. He is a chef there.
Everyday i cry, becus i risk my life going to work and love my job. I just cant stay home while my country needs me. It sucks my husband is not here, its depressing for me and our children as well. I last saw my husband in december. Every 6mnths he buys me ticket to visit. Now bcus of covid im not sure when we will see each other. We had to cancel flights we had booked for july vacation. I pray and cry everyday he gets TRV approved and for movement on sponsorship. I pray for all of us here. We dont deserve to be going through this pandemic without our spouses.
I can't even imagine what you are going through. I can't thank you enough for what you are doing. I am hopeful that you will be rewarded soon, for all what you are going through. Stay safe and stay strong! Loads of love and a tight hug!!

Thanks for your service! I’m almost in the same boat. I’m a single father with a school aged daughter. I’m in the armed forces so my job is essential. However, because schools and daycares are closed I cannot leave my home(babysitting and schooling). I joined to serve my county not fly to foreign lands and fight others battles(IMO). I feel so bad that I’m not doing my part. If my wife was here. I would be proudly serving. COVID-19 military response team for Ont is located where I’m stationed. So my base is quite essential.

What did CIC say on the phone? What is your timeline for TRV? I applied for my wife on the 24th of Apr. No updates yet. She has a bio on file from her last TRV attempt.

BTW Ford is offering free 24/7 child care for essential employees. But non near my base. And our chain of command said to hold off until they get more clarification for military personal as we are federal and don’t fall under provincial jurisdiction.

Good luck to all and thanks to all serving and working during this time of confination and uncertainty.

Sorry to hear this, but don’t loose your hope. We are all on the same boat. What was your essential reason that they didn’t accept?

You can expand the post that I replied to with the update for some detail. Basically, for my wife to care for my daughter as I am a single father, and my job is to serve my country and community. I cannot do that if I have to stay home and babysit and be an elementary school teacher.

Ladies and gentleman: Your tax dollars hard at work (SMH). I'm sitting at home collecting a great salary, but all I want to do is serve my country and earn your tax dollars. I feel shame to be a soldier sitting at home. Even grocery workers are serving their community more than me.

This is so sad and I can totally understand how you feel. But be patient and reapply for her a little bit later, hopefully she gets her trv next time.

Hey! Sorry about the refusal. How much time did they take to process? I am applying for my wife's TRV next week. IRCC issued guidelines on April 30th or in May that being with family member during this pandemic is essential travel. I am working with a consultant this time.

Sorry to hear about the refusal. Hope everything will settle and you will re-unit with the family sooner. Even I planned to apply TRV for my wife, now I have to wait for the PR only.
