I did that few times but also useless....nowadays I cannot even contact them through phone....it was a dream which became a nightmare
I would understand If I was in SS....but 16 months to clear an eligibility???? Come on!

I submitted my application Sept. 8, 2018 via CEC. My application was in RR up to August 7, 2019 when I was asked to pay my landing fee.
During the RR phase, they never asked for any documents, but I kept sending documents as my situation changes, or based on my file notes assessment.
I called CIC numerous times after August 7th, but they said my file was waiting for final review. I requested notes in September which showed that I passed everything, and on two occasions CIC Rep confirmed this.
- Dec. 2, 2019, I was instructed to redo my medical.
- Dec. 20, 2019, system updated that I passed the medical
- Dec. 24, 2019, requested my photos and passport
I was first at eligibility review for a few months, then to regular review.
I'm not sure.
My friend's application took one year to process. They never requested any document, and he didn't submit anything. Plus he requested notes twice, and only received one after he got his PR card.
The application process is like a horror movie, and can be very depressing at times.
Try to keep abreast of your file progress via the notes, and follow up every now and again via call/web form. I honestly believe sometimes application fall through the cracks.
After I explained the source they sent me another request regarding POF but just about the time the money was in my account. So I assume they were ok with my explanation and it would be a matter of few weeks for them to clear my Eligibility considering I sent old bank statements. Unfortunately, it was not the case and my filel is collecting dust again.

I got my notes yesterday and ever since then my clumsiness at work has only increased. Anyways, the case analyst seems to have issues with my job duties. Sadly, HR wont reissue another letter and they are the only ones authorised to write reference letters.
I am planning on writing a letter of explanation detailing the exact duties carried out and attaching HR's response to my request for a detailed letter.
I got PPR on 9 January 7months after AOR (4 June). Summary of my timeline:
AOR - 4 June 2019
PNP outland
Medical - 01.06.2019
Ordered GCMS in Aug 12, 2019 - found RR on employment duties.
Raised web form and sent an LOE to proactively explain the concerns suspected Aug 12, 2019. Raise another LOE in September after receipt of notes.
Ghost update- Nit sure but later daw an update 10.01.2020

I was stuck in review required from October 2018-June 2019 (August 2018 AOR). I had called and talked with agents and they said no more documents required even though I kept asking and they said they can raise a query with the office handling every 2 months as they file had crossed 9 months mark. The response came back as they are still processing my case. Based on the GCMS notes I got the idea that the RR was because of POF. I uploaded new bank statements as POF using CSE form on my own early June. I got PPR golden email mid July, it's hard to say if the file moved on it's own or uploading new docs made it move. But if I had a chance to redo it I would upload docs on my own sooner. Anytime there is a back and forth with IRCC it slows down the file. Do the due diligence on your own.
