Thank you! That's great to hear.
I understand the risks. Just wanted to know what documents we need? Like eta etc? And do we tell them we're in the process of applying for spousal sponsorship?
What's your current status in Canada? Do you have a work permit or are you in the country as a visitor?

I am the sponsor (Canadian PR) and husband is in Canada as a visitor on eta. He is the one leaving for a couple of days. He also has a return ticket to our home country

I just sent the application today but now starting to doubt on some details. For example, yesterday I noticed the form IMM5406 calls for BLACK ink only. Few documents were signed with blue ink and N/A wrote in blue ink as well. I saw on previous trends that it's not an issue but I tried my best to avoid mistakes so I hope it will be ok.

Regarding the question 11, I think we should have given more details on our travels together but we just gave a brief summary of our relationship. We are married, have a child and many proof of cohabitation (joint accounts and bills). I have added additional proof of relationship but I don't know if I have given enough info. What have you all put for that question?

I might be wrong but I think that he'll be reassessed when he returns to Canada. He'll probably need to provide proof that he has funds to support himself whilst he waits for the application to come through but again I'm not sure. I have a valid work permit and used that.

Hi, me and my wife are currently going through the process of filling out the inland spousal sponsorship stuff. I have a quick question regarding the police certificates section on the checklist.

As I understand the checklist (IMM5533e), if I (principal applicant) currently live in Canada and have been doing so for the last 6 months, I should NOT check the first option but instead check option 2 and 3? Or do I check all 3?

For peoples reference, the three different options I can check:

Option 1: The country where I currently live (for at least 6 months)
Option 2: The country where I have lived most of my life since the age of 18
Option 3: If I have lived in Canada for the last 6 months, because IRCC will request PC on my behalf.

Thanks. So stoked to have found this forum to help us with all these things.

If you've been living in Canada for the last 6 months then you'll need to mark option 3 AND if in addition to that you're providing police certificates from your home country (or wherever you lived most of your life since 18) as well you'll need to mark option 2 too.

I sent my application on Friday the 11th but due to the Thanksgiving long weekend it was received today - 10/16.

My visitor visa expires late next month I'm assuming I should apply for a visa extension just in case anything goes wrong so I'm not out of status but how long should I ask for? I was thinking 12 months.

Yes, just as kathie said, it's which ever applies. My husband sent three though, all countries where he stayed for more trhan 6 months but that's not what it says on the checklist. We got confuse because when we called, she said every country where you stayed for more than 6 months. Just provide the PCC for which ever situation on the checklist applies: if they need another PCC when they go through background checks, they will contact you.

CANADA POST - MAILING OF APPLICATION

Both priority and Xpresspost service get delivered in one day (at least from QC but still, check with them). If you take Xpresspost, don't pay extra for signature as I didn't and I got the signature. But quite frankly, the signature is not necessary.

No. I sent through Canada Post yesterday in the afternoon. It was received today before 12PM. It was only 14,99$+tx.

One more thing for those sending their application, make sure you use the correct address: there are two different addresses, one for mail and the other one for courier.

Edit. Sorry I thought you were asking me.

I'm located in Brantford, ON but I sent it at my local Staples via courier (Purolator) It didn't get picked up until yesterday and then was delivered today and I just did ground shipping but then again I'm only an hour and a half from Mississauga.

Oh then I was silly to think that courier would be faster. I'm based in Vancouver and it costed me around 40$ with taxes

I used Post Canada service too. It's xpress. But the officer told me that it's courier. They received 2 weeks ago. I hope it's the same
