HI all,

My wife and I are both PRs and our baby is to be born outside of Canada in a few months. We want to sponsor him after his birth so a TRV is needed in order to bring him with us to Canada.

My questions are:

1. In the purpose of this trip, should I choose "visit family" or "tourism"? we don't have a resident address so visit family seems not appliable. But does "tourism" mean that we give up the idea that we are going to sponsor him in the future? will it cause any trouble?
2. In the explanation letter, should I address that we are going to sponsor him ASAP when we landed or should I just emphasize it is just a regular travel and we are going to leave the country before his visa expires?

Thanks for your help.

Ideally, the best option would be for you to move back to Canada alone and then apply to sponsor your baby through Family Class.... instead of attempting the TRV (and if refused, the TRP route).

Visit Family.

IRCC is fully aware that you intend to sponsor your baby for PR once s/he is in Canada. It really does not make a difference about the selections you make for her/his TRV application.

It's obvious that you will sponsor your baby, but why state the obvious.

No, don't mention something like this which isn't true

hi, I got TRV for my baby. It was quite easy and there was no problem. I think the key to a successful TRV for a baby is no difference from others.

1. the purpose should be family visit and birthcertificate is madetary
2. the parent in Canada should write an invitation letter for the baby
3. the parents should provide all necessary evidence that they have financial support for the baby
4. additionally, an explain letter is optional. and in my case, I explained in the letter that I would start the family class sponsorship ASAP and promised that the baby would leave Canada before his visa expired. I don’t know whether it has influence though.

Hope this will help and wish you luck.

Thanks much. have few queries,

1. Yes, have mentioned purpose as Family Visit and have also attached the Birth certificate.
2. Yes, Am in Canada and attaching the invitation letter. But should i get the letter signed by a Notary?
3. Am including Employer letter with compensation details, Previous year Tax document (NOA), Recent pay stub, Bank statement, PR Card copy . Is this enough or do we need to include anything else?
4. Would you be able to send me a explanation letter that you used ( after deleting your personal details), so i can use it as a template for reference. ?

Thanks again for the response.. :)

Hello,
I am in similar situation, but the problem is my husband and I both are outside Canada and wish to travel together with baby to Canada as we live alone outside our home country.
1. Who would give us an invitation letter ?
2. I created my baby's profile and a relationship proof with host/family member is being asked in documents required ? What relationship proof would i submit. We have a few friends in Canada who may be able to write an invitation letter but again what kind of relationship proof for a friend could we upload.
3. Could you please send me the template of LOE too ?

Hi,
Are you and your husband both PR? If yes, I don’t think you need an invitation as technically you are residents of Canada but live outside country. All you need is a Canadian address that your family will be staying and you or your husband should make the invitation for the baby. So to your second question, the relationship proof should be you or your husband with the baby depending on who made the invitation, and a birth certificate is enough. I will pm the template but you do need to stress in the letter your current situation and what you will do. Hope this helps

Yes my husband and I both are PR.
Thank you so much for the template. What you said about invitation letter makes sense, I thought only a person from inside Canada could give an invitation letter.

Hi Divxthegreat,
I am still searching for a suitable template of invitation letter considering our situation that both PR parents are based outside Canada.
Though a helpful member did share template of LOE they wrote for their kid, I can send you that.

Hey all.

I got a question on as I am in a similar situation. Both me and my wife are PR's. Wife had to deliver our twins in India due to Covid related lockdown. I have applied for TRV for both kids in September 2020 and Sponsorship in December 2020. There is no activity on the TRV front at all.

What I learnt from a few facebook posts is that for immediate family (parents and kids) we can ask for Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds for TRV and it gets processed faster. Does any one know the process for applying this to the submitt ed application?
