Thanks for replying :) but my lawyer is making me scared thet my OBWP will not get approved.

My Permit is expiring on 10th Dec.
I have ITA but not the medical yet.
I mean, I may get all the documents ready and submit it before 10th Dec and if gets AOR within 24 hours , can apply for OBWP.
But my lawyer is saying there are less chances of getting OBWP approved and she is pushing me in the LMIA process.

I just don't know what to do in either case.
Do you have any suggestion please
here on CIC website.

Eligibility parameters for bridging open work permits
To be eligible for a BOWP, foreign nationals must

  • be currently in Canada;
  • have valid status on a work permit that is due to expire within the next 4 months;
  • be the principal applicant on an APR under the FSWC, the CEC, the FSTC, the PNC (see note below), or 1 of the 2 caregiver classes;
  • have completed 1 of the following APR stages:
    • their electronic application for permanent residence (e-APR) submitted under Express Entry has passed the R10 completeness check; or
    • they have received a positive eligibility assessment on their paper APR submitted by mail under 1 of the economic classes above;
  • have applied for an open work permit;
  • have paid the work permit processing fee and the open work permit holder fee; and
  • have provided, as applicable, evidence (e.g., nomination certificate) that their provincial nomination is unrestricted.

You can apply and might get lucky, but this is the Eligibility requirements.

I got my BOWP approved! happy!

That took exactly two months for me.

So in your case, if you complete AOR asap, then you can also get the BOWP, provided your house is in order wrt medicals and whatever else.

Medical usually gets divd within a month.

Hi guys,

My PR application is in process since October 25th. I am on work permit which is expiring on Feb. 20, 2019. I am not planning to apply for Bridge Work Permit because I could still apply for regular open work permit because I was never issued three years open work permit in the start due to my passport expiration. Presently, I've got my renewed passport and I could technically apply for open work permit for my remaining 6 months. Please provide your feedback on my way of seeing this situation.

Also, since I'm applying for open work permit extension, do I have to apply only one month before my expiration? I know Bruce Work Permit is required to be applied 4 months in advance, however, my situation doesn't require BOWP.

1 year from the date it was issued. So its valid till 29th November 2019.
NOTE: Not one year from the date of expiry of my work permit, which was 15th October 2018. One year from the day it was issued.
Now i have to wait for the damn thing, which is making me nervous due to Canada Post's strike.

Thanks!

No I wasn't asked for any biometrics or additional documents.

I am from India and do not have any dependents. I have been living here since 2013. Came here as a student when I was 17, finished my engineering degree, got my PGWP, completed one year of work and applied for my PR under CEC.
