Prohibition is done by the officer when they look at your file. In my case, the prohibition was passed at the test day, but because my security checks were not in, after a few months after the test, the prohibition status changed to in progress again. Now both prohibition and security checks are in progress. My ATIP notes show that no single security update was made on my file since they submitted the request to csis more than 10 months ago.

The truth is, as it can be found on a number of MPs' websites, csis has a double standard in processing the screening from the nationals of some specific countries (please don't blame me on that I am biased, ircc/csis have also admitted this as well, you can do a web/youtube research for more information on this). It is a sad fact to know of this, but apparently there is no other way to expedite the process than being painfully patient (you can sign the petition on some of the MPs' websites if you like).

After more than 14 months they didn't start Residence and prohibition yet !!!
Well, considering the report was as of the day you made the request , it only means they hadn’t started after 13 months ... maybe they have started after that day, you will wait till your next report to find out

You have to carefully check your full ATIP notes to see If at any time during your process, your prohibition and / or residency were “in progress” or that “not started” was the only update.

If the last update on your file for prohibition and residency was “not started”, this means that the officer has not started looking at those yet (ie the date of your ATIP notes release) and has been waiting for your background checks to finish first. In other words, whenever a visa officer looks at your file any time from now those status will be most likely changed. The residency and prohibition will be determined by the officer ( not other agencies).

The timeline for deciding those is about a couple of months (after the officer started looking at your file) because the officer usually needs to check your passport and stamps and compares them with the border control database. The prohibition will be based on your background checks’ results.

Please note that the above explaination was only based on my reserach looking at a few ATIP notes.

Also check the first page of your ATIP notes to see if your case is “open” or is “on hold”. The latter means the processing is on hold until other information is received.

Thanks for your response.
I checked the ATIP those information was the last update and they didn't start until September 25 . And the first page shows the App statues is open.
But I am thinking why they didn't start residence. They checkd my passport and stamps 8 months a go during the interview. But after more than 8 months from interview they didn't start it

Probably because they already finished 80% of the applications and met their target, no pressure to care about what’s left

This is so frustrating. I'm sorry you are going through this. My parents applied last November (they actually applied Oct 12th, but their file was returned due to agents mistake of new rules and had to resend). I was optimistic that they will be citizens by summer. My sister and I live in the US and my parents haven't been able to visit since Trump and his travel ban! Now I'm worried that even 1 year mark doesn't mean much! I was really hoping to have them here for Thanksgiving or at latest for the holiday season. I hope you hear good news soon..

Forgot to ask, did you get your ATIP notes by email? I requested for my parents October 20th. Should have got the results by now, but nothing! There is a tracking number, but I don't know where to check..

Thanks for responding. Honestly in my experience there is no time limit. One of my friend get his oath after 7 month and I know some people that they didn't det citizenship test after 1 years and mine also I didn't get oath invitation after More than 8 month after citizenship test .

I wonder if they had to restart everything over since a year has past. I remember back in December a couple people was invited for Oath and IRCC cancel it a couple days before because some of checks they had done was expired.
