I am lost! Not sure what to do now! My wife had submitted her application in June. She was asked to submit her fingerprint after a few months which she did promptly. Several months later, IRCC sent her that this is her final notice to submit her fingerprints and that she has 30 days to send her fingerprints. We took several steps to ensure that they have what they asked for. But it is all verbal over the phone or by one-way mail. She is now panicking as on one phone call, the customer service person told her if they does not have it on file, her application will be "abandoned" Please suggest if there is anything additional we can do.
Here is the timeline and the details:
July 2025: Application submission
Aug 2025: AOR
Sept 10 2025: Request for fingerprints
Sept 11 2025: Completed the fingerprints at an RCMP-certified office
Sept 18 2025: RCMP sent out the letter (according to a phone call with RCMP, later on)
Sometime in between, invitation for the test and test completion.
Jan 7th 2026: Received the final notice to submit the fingerprints
Jan 7th 2026: Phone call with RCMP. They told us it was sent on Sept 17. We requested a resend.
Jan 7th 2026: As suggested by the IRCC call center, we mailed out the receipt from the fingerprint office and an explanation letter (they confirmed on that call that they do not have her fingerprints on file and that she should not (but could if she wants to) do another fingerprint nor should she ask the RCMP to resend it!
Jan 12th 2026: According to Canada Post explanation letter and fingerprint receipt delivered to IRCC
Jan 13th 2026: Called the IRCC call center again to confirm they received the fingerprint receipt. They confirmed they received it. They also said they have the original fingerprints received from IRCC on Sept 23rd 2025!!! They mentioned that there is nothing additional needed to be done at this point. The call center lady said we have the receipt BUT also fax it! Which is weird. She gave us a fax number we tried so many times to fax it but it did not work!
Jan 14 2026: Confirmed with RCMP that they resent the fingerprints results.
Jan 14 2026: Called IRCC call center again. This time they said there is no need to fax anything! That they have the original fingerprint on the file and there is no need to do anything else! We still mailed another explanation letter with all the details by mail to be sure that they have all this information on file.
Still, we are very worried as the time counts down to the end of the notice period with no written confirmation if they might still decide to go ahead and "abandon" her application after 7 months! Would we be able to complain if they do? Is there anything extra we can do?
Thanks for your suggestions
