I think if one goes on EI even once except the maternity or medical reasons that person is not eligible to sponsor irrespective of income
Hi...
I have question regarding income requirements.
Me and my spouse together meeting the income requirements. My spouse is cosigner in my application. I was on mat leave since April 2016 to March 2017.. is EI not considered in annual income? I am reading threads and getting an idea that EI is not included in annual income of family.
Can you send link where it mention in cic website...
I am not worried because I am meeting the income criteria even if i am excluding EI.
Thanks.
Hi! Im just wondering.. How long do they usually take to open and start processing the application after they received it from the courier? I want to include my brother as dependent and her daughter but he will turn 22 this coming April 22 and im planning to submit the application on 2nd week or 3rd week of April. Thank you!
Thank you for the help canuck_in_uk!Dependent ages are locked in at the time of submission, so it doesn't matter when the application is actually opened, only when it is received. Note that if the app is returned for any reason after your brother turns 22, he will not be able to be included when re-submitting.

I'm not clear about the processing time. Don't they just process the completed application package in a few months (like a regular PR application, e.g. skilled worker, that meets all the requirements)? Or is it much longer?
Considering the Number of Applicants who posted in this group and are selected to apply but do not have eligibility , There will be a second draw for sure , as there must be thousands of another applicants with similar scenarios who are not even aware of this forum.
Is the brother married or common-law?
As mentioned IRCC needs to receive the app to lock in the age, so you better not leave to the last minute in case of a delay in delivery. Also you need to make extra certain the app is perfect with no errors, so they don't return it back to you.
Thanks Rob! They are not married and they don't live together but they have a kid. They are not going to bring the baby here in Canada because the mother doesn't want to.Is the brother married or common-law?

So once they signed the courier who delivered the application thats the start of lock in age, am i right?
Being on EI does not disqualify a person from sponsoring provided they have sufficient income from employment for the rest of the year.
