Does anyone know how long it normally takes to get your Police Certificate back from the FBI?
I sent it from Montreal and am worried it may not arrive by the time I need to submit it. (If this does happen how would i go about that?)

Thanks!
I sent it off at the end of September and it said on the site it would take about two months...it is now January and I have not heard anything at all and they haven't even charged the credit card or anything. :/ The current processing times on their site keep getting longer and longer too. I talked to CIC about this since it didn't look like it was going to come in time, and they said if you don't get it in time, you should write a letter explaining everything as well and upload that where the police certificate should go as proof such as proof you sent it off or payment. In my case, since I knew it took a long time, I sent it off before getting the request and didn't have much besides proof of getting fingerprints since I expected it back in time, but I explained everything in the letter and was told it should be okay. When they finally receive it, it can be added to the application by CIC :)

Hi all, We are waiting for our work permit. Talked on the phone to CIC . They said it may be issued mid March and that we should be able to link the OWP already. Our OWP is heavily delayed because we send the wrong fee and CIC sent the notification about missing fee to the wrong mailing address. We have not been able to link the OWP app. yet. QUESTION: A potential employer is suggesting they could write a letter on our behalf and we could upload it to Canada.gc for a small chance in making a difference. Is this a thing? If so, where would we upload such a letter? Once the OWP is linked is there a place to upload additional documents??? I have read the tips here about linking OWPs but if you have any more they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - love you guys.
I don't think that would help as you are applying for an OPEN work permit, meaning it is not employer specific. We had an immigration consultant help us with our application and he said that it won't matter at all. Plus, it's illegal for companies to offer you a job if you don't have a valid work permit.

they can offer you a job but you need to wait for the OWP to come in the mail and get a SIN before you start working.

I don't see an opportunity for an expedited application here as applications are put on the queue based on the date they arrive to the mailroom for processing. Your work permit application will be processed within the timeline posted on the website & that's the explanation they will give you when you call so its testing our patience on the wait times.

Hello!
My police certificate will be sent directly to CIC, but I made a mistake loading the letter explaining this.
I didn't know that I should put the proof of payments and tracking numbers in the same file and now I can't upload more files.
I wrote a message in "Report a technical issue" and only received a generic answer.

What I can do?
Can I contact them by email?
I'm afraid that they reject my request because of that mistake

Will the FBI accept a Canadian credit card for payment of the 18$? I know it will technically be a higher charge since it would be on a Canadian credit card but I won't have funds in my US account by the time they run my credit card since it seems it'll be a few months until then.

Thanks for the info! I will definitely be doing the same thing!

So to be sure I understand you right, you uploaded a letter *you* wrote stating why you haven't received your PC yet and then you also uploaded the receipt for your fingerprints as with the tracking receipt for when you sent them to the FBI?

Did you send that same letter into CIC or just upload it in place of the Police Certificate?

Hi, everyone,

I sponsor my wife to become PR. We sent her application middle of last year. It's inland application. After sending application, my wife gave birth to our son. So basically he is an Canadian, we have his birth certificate. My question is do we need to fillany form and sending birth certificate or just send his birth certificate to CIC?

Thank you

Hi, yes they will accept Canadian credit card. They will also accept a money order via Canada Post in US dollars. I did the money order and was able to track it when it was cashed. Either way is good :) Happy Friday.

Yes, I wrote the letter stating why and uploaded that with the fingerprint receipt so I had proof of something and had that in place of the FBI PC for now. Unfortunately I didn't have a tracking receipt since I sent it as a standard letter and tracking wasn't available for me, but if you have one, definitely submit that!

Hey guys, I received my AOR today.

Application received by CIC: Nov 14
AOR: Jan 5

I see requests for police certificates and schedule A. For the police certificate, is it all countries that you lived 6 months or longer since you've turned 18? I read somewhere that police certificates are not required if you've lived in Canada the majority of time since turning 18. If anyone can clarify this for me, that would be great!

It would depend on the letter they sent you requesting for specific police certificates. If you have lived in Canada for the majority of the time since you turned 18, you don't need it. If that was the only Police certificate you need, upload a letter explaining your situation instead.

Do you get email or just gckey update? Congrats!!
Thank you :) He got an e-mail that said there is an update/message on his account - then on gckey we could see it was approved. They also attach an approval letter stating the permit has been mailed. I hope you get yours soon !
