I am researcher at university of Manitoba so normally it's easy to get close work permit for any research project as such work permits are LMIA exempted.
Is it a good idea to first get work permit and come to canada and than apply for PR

Hi guys, not sure if this is a right place but i'm asking for a friend. My friend, her husband, their baby and her brother-in-law are thinking to move to canada. They asked me about this but i'm not sure which route that they can take (i confused myself with PNP and express entry)

The husband has no degree - planning to go to college in canada
The wife probably will work part time job
The brother in law has bachelor degree - planning to go back for master

From what i read, you need a letter from your employer to be eligible for MPNP?

What if, they come here on student permit, finish school, get a work permit and get a job. Will they eligible to apply?

Also they have me as friend in MB but i can't sponsor them. Can they apply without sponsor?

Any other suggestion?

Thanks a lot!

**Edit: They asked an agent and the agent only able to help them with big cities (eg:Toronto). I wonder if it's easier to get PR in MB than ON or BC?

Also, did you guys using agent or lawyer or do everything yourself?

From what i read, you need a letter from your employer to be eligible for MPNP? Yes you do, this is easy to get as long as you're in the province and work for the employer full time for first 6 months continuously, then you can apply for MPNP after (this is only applicable if you are already in the province).

What if, they come here on student permit, finish school, get a work permit and get a job. Will they eligible to apply? Yes they will be. See above for answer

Also they have me as friend in MB but i can't sponsor them. Can they apply without sponsor? As long as they are in the province, they do not need to have a sponsor, they will get automatic 500 points for living and schooling in the province. All they have to do is complete their education, get a full time job after school and apply after 6 months

Any other suggestion? My suggestion will be for your friend's husband to apply for student visa, if he's approved, his wife will qualify to apply for an open work permit as she is accompanying him. Then she can work to support the family while the husband goes to school or vice versa. Regarding the brother in-law, he's gonna have to apply for his student visa alone.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot! It really helps. I'll tell them to consider change their location to MB. Because they keep thinking about moving to Toronto (which is super expensive!)
