hi guys, I have submitted sponsorship application for my wife (outland application: India) around May 2017 and got her medicals done and cleared, police clearance certificate and Schedule A form submitted to the linked profile online. Basically, all the documents required from our side have been submitted mid june 2017. Been waiting for 2 to 3 weeks with no reply. Anyone know how long will take to get passport request (which i think is the last process in the PR processing) ?

They are aiming to complete 80% of applications within a 12 month timeline (some will be processed faster than this) so if you've only submitted this May you can expect that you still have a bit of a wait to go.

Has your application been transferred to New Delhi? If yes then the next step is a background check. New Delhi is currently processing Jan 2017 applications, just to give you an idea of the timelines.

Hi Everyone,

On the checklist (5533), we report less than 2 years to our marriage and then notice we need to provide wedding/outing pictures (which we can), and then at least 2 of the following -
  1. Important documents for you and spouse showing you are recognized as each other's spouse (such as employment/insurance benefits)
  2. Documentary evidence of financial support between you and your sponsor, and/or shared expenses
  3. Other proof that your relationship is recognized by your friends and/or family (e.g. Letters from friends/family, social media information showing a public relationship, etc.)

Question: I have #1 above. For #2, ALL of our bank accounts list both of us as joint account holders - which I already show further up in the checklist as evidence of co-habitation. Can I show that same evidence (joint bank account holding) again here as well?

I will be getting married in February and looking at sponsoring my spouse under family class... I have been stressing out about this and I hope someone can give me peace of mind... almost five years ago I was charged with Uttering threats to destroy property and a Mischief charge. The threats were towards my ex girlfriend after a nasty break up... I accept full responsibility and can only blame myself for the stupid choices I have made. I am now wondering will my past stupidity effect me being able to sponsor my future wife ?

Question #2: In Form 5532, where it asks for relatives of principal applicant living in Canada, does my wife have to list my brother and sister-in-law ? It doesn't make sense to me, but I figured I would check

Hi all, quick question:

For the part "Other proof that your relationship is recognized by your friends and/or family (e.g. Letters from friends/family, social media information showing a public relationship etc.)" - we're thinking of also including the cards and letters received during our wedding however some of them are not all in English, do we have to translate these as well?

Hi everyone. Quick question.

My husband is about to send his required documents (Schedule A Background/Declaration Form and NBI Clearance) to CPC Mississauga. The instruction in the letter he received from Mississauga states to submit in the following address if sending it by mail.

Required Documents
CPC Mississauga/CTD Mississauga
P.O. Box 6100, Station A / CP 6100 Station A
Mississauga ON L5A 4H4

Now the lady in LBC (where we're supposed to send the documents) stated if there is a PO Box, they won't send it because it is a post office. And I don't trust our post office if we really have to send it through them due to recent experience. So can we not put the PO Box 6100, Station A in the to address and just put the CP 6100 Station A..? Or we really have to put the entire above address from their letter?

I hope somebody can answer my question. It will really help us and will be greatly appreciated.

God bless..

Hi guys I really need your advise. My husband and I got married last May 27th here in Canada. I am a permanent resident and my husband came as a tourist. We are now processing his spousal sponsorship. I asked someone to check our documents and there is a part of it which is about giving information about our relationship. We were advised that we should not indicate that we were got engaged last 2015 and that were seeing each other everyday because it might conflict on what I declared with my marital status as single during my processing of PR. They also said that if we got engaged last 2 years ago the immigration might think that we already planned to get married in Canada a long time ago and my PR status might be on risk.. Can you give any opinion or advise about my case? Thank you so much.
My advice is you should be 100% HONEST with your application. Because I've read an issue here one time saying that they were BANNED because of dishonesty and giving confusing or mismatching information.

Hello everyone, thank you for your time in reading my question.

my future spouse comes from a visa exempt country, and she will be travelling here next month to stay with me for a little while. we have been waiting two years in order for her to graduate so we can make the proper arrangements for us to finally start our lives together (she will be graduating this month). Our plan is to get married here in order to go through the spousal sponsorship program, i doubt we will be able to make all of the necessary arrangements including the gathering of proper documentation in order to start the application process within a 6 month window, but anything is possible so who knows. but in the event that this cannot be acheived within 6 months before she would hypothetically be required to return home, i searched for this "visit extension" i keep reading about. this would also be useful information in the event we decided to apply outland rather than inland so she has less of a risk if she desires to travel but still remain here for the majority of the process. it seems that the only information i was able to gather was pertaining to foreign visitors who are required to apply for either a single or multiple entry visa in the first place and it left me a little bit confused. can anyone make this clearer for me and correct any misleading facts i might have? thank you very much!

Yes, she can extend her status by applying for visitor extension, the max they give each time is 6 months and i believe it still costs a 100 CAD. If you file for those and you can back it up by showing you have enough money to support her and that she can live with you etc. they will almost certainly issue her one. You can do this a couple of times but after a while they will say enough is enough and send her back to her own country. If you file an inland spousal sponsorship application and include an application for an open work permit at the same time she will have implied status until she hears back from CIC, she will need to have valid status when applying though. I heard that they usually issue these open work permits after 4 months or so, if she gets that she can just stay and work until your sponsorship has been processed.

Hi, Could anyone help or point me in the right direction, Currently in process for INLAND family class sponsorship application from the uk.

  • Applied by mail incl application for OWP which was accepted for processing in Early May
  • then police cert and schedule A sent in June 17th
  • 2017/07/10 received an ETA approval. even though we did not apply for one

"Dear client,
In accordance with your Work Permit, you have been approved an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). You are now authorized to travel to Canada by air. "

Has anyone else received one of these before receiving there OWP or had any experience with this? Any help is very appreciated! :)

Basically they approved your open work permit, Eta is for visa exempt countries so you are allowed to board a plane to Canada, but since you are already in Canada that is not applicable.

If LBC wants to deliver it via courier then, yes, they can't use this address. I would suggest you send it in via Xpress Canada Post (with signature) and be done with it.
