I got the passport request July 25th, and August 8th I got instructions to confirm location/email so they can set up my mom's portal account. Still waiting for that next step :)

Thanks for the reply. Are your parents in Canada? I have submitted webform to confirm emails as well as followed up with MP office.

Yes

Hi all,
Thanks for all the support after 3 years. My mum is now a permanent resident.

Question - Can she apply for Old Age Sercurity benefits even thou she just became a PR. She is 65.

Thanks.

If you are living in Canada, you must:

  • be 65 years old or older
  • be a Canadian citizen or a legal resident at the time we approve your OAS pension application
  • have resided in Canada for at least 10 years since the age of 18

In August 2021, i was informed that the file will be transferred to London, UK.
However, the recent correspondence (request of pcc, medical, and right of PR fee) all came from London, Ontario office. I hope it is a good sign . Honestly, i thought it was all from London, UK but your question made me verify it; thanks for asking!
I asked you because your case is progressing similar to mine. There is one person on this forum of vo London on who got swift processing till pp request and pp stamping. Fingers crossed. Hope ours also come to happy end soon.

and in addition to what you mentioned I think she cannot apply foe OAS pension plan at all because the sponsor should provide all his expenses for 20 years. but I'm not sure about that.

She can apply OAS after residency is fulfilled but cannot apply social assistance until 20 years of sponsorship.

I received additional document(CV) request on 19 Jul 2022 followed by medial request on 21 Jul 2022. Medical test was completed on 25 Jul 2022. GCKey was updated as Medial passed on 1 Aug 2022. CV was submitted on 9 Aug 2022. I see today that ECAS status for PR application changed to Decision Made. LVO is New-Delhi.

Hoping to get PPR soon.

Ircc is asking me to provide a divorce certificate of my parents. But it was just a traditional weeding nothing official and no documents signed and then they just slipped apart. So there is no proof of divorce. You think it will cause a problem if i just explain that to IRCC?
