Hi! Can anyone please suggest if spouse lives outside of canada then would it be better to apply an outland sponsorship or call spouse on visit visa and follow the inland process. Which one of the two would be faster irrespective of what timelines of processing are shown on the website?
Views and experience are much appreciated. Thanks!
Based on the information that I have been advised by senior members , Spousal sponsorship would be the way to go. Once the file number is generated ,you can simultaneously apply for visit visa and chances of visit being approved will be quite high.

Whereas if you apply for visit visa first , You'll need to convince the visa officer that your spouse has got strong ties back in home country which will make her leave canada after her purpose of visit is done. Probabilities of being granted visa in this scenario is quite low because the visa officers know that since the husband is here, she's got strong ties in canada which is why she may not leave , but it is at your discretion if you want to try.

All the best .

I disagree with this.

It's generally harder to get a TRV approved after a spousal sponsorship application has been submitted since that's a clear indication the spouse has plans to move to Canada long term. Regardless of whether you apply before or after spousal sponsorship, the spouse needs to provide proof of strong ties to their home country in the TRV application in order to be approved.

That is also a point.

Also , is a PR card necessary to apply for Spousal sponsorship ? I only have a COPR and my PR card is expected to arrive within a quarter.

Thanks in advance

I received SPONSER approval letter from IRCC today with no mention of the VO .

does it mean it’s Ottawa since there is no mention of it ?

Question! We just got passport request today for our application. And my wife's passport just got renewed also today. Can we just submit this new passport? Or we first need to inform thru webform that my wife got a new passport?

Hi all, I have submit the Outland Spousal Sponsorship application in Nov 2021, and we are still waiting for the Background verification to be completed (while others such as Biometrics, body check, CNCC, eligibility are completed already.) May I know if we can go to Canada to settle down first while we are still waiting for the approval? Is it possible to change to Inland application now? Or with Outland application, the PA can still travel to Canada? Thanks!

I have submitted my outland application in May end. My wife already gave biometric in 2019 during Express Entry application. Should I apply for visitor visa or wait for AOR......?

Hi! You mean we do not need to inform them that theres a new passport issued to PA? We can just submit the new passport? The passport information in their records is still the old info.
That's fine, they'll figure it out. You are not the first to renew a passport.

If you really think necessary, include a photocopy of the old one and a short note saying "renewed my passport."

Bit in my view completely unnecessary.
