I went to my husbands interview. On the way to Vienna I used a small metal spoon from the kitchen to eat a yogart. Then put it in my purse. Upon arrival my purse was scanned. They confiscated the spoon and asked me why I carried it. We were the only ones there and had Over 1 hour wait after scheduled interview time before commencing. I had no idea until I told someone about this incident who explained that it would be suspected I am a drug user. Ugggh this is all so frustrating. I am an upstanding well groomed citizen and business owner who knows nothing about illegal drug use nor have I ever used anything. Take nothing into the embassy when you go but passport is all I can say.

In fact if an interview is scheduled, is it a must the sponsor to be there as well?

I understand and totally agree with high security. I just wish I wasn't so naive about the perception of carrying a metal spoon in my purse. Didn't even cross my mind. I'm a 43 year old mother. It's odd to think I've been perceived as a drug user for this. Im a nutrition buff and like my morning yogart.
We are not sure about the interview. The officer told him he was deported and needs ARC which is not true and he had his removal order there to prove it as well as proof the airline paid his return ticket under liability.
His exclusion order ends in less than 2 weeks.
He was challenged on several things. Including why he had an interpreter. How can we communicate if he doesn't speak English?...So he switched to english. He said for such an important meeting he felt more comfortable in his first language. All it takes is a single word misinterpretation to cause communication error. In his app he explained that I am exposed to his language for 25+ years and understand basic conversational SLOVAK but I guess they don't believe him. My best friends (SLOVAK) mom also wrote a letter verifying I am an active part of the Slovak community here for many years. This is how we met. We lived together 3 months before marriage and met one year before. We discussed our marriage with a Toronto officer before proceeding. He said it was no problem but apply Outland because he had to leave Canada 3 weeks later. We have sooooooo much proof. Affidavits from both sides family and friends. 300 photos. Month long visits. Daily communication. Shared bank account.
We provided much more evidence as requested and several other documents in response to officers concerns listed in GCMS.
In the end he was told they would review his case further. We don't know what to think.

No. Sponsor is not required Outland. I just happened to have booked a visit for our anniversary which was the day before. Was good timing. In our case it helped I'm sure to see me there and know I was there for another month long stay. They did not speak to me though.

Did anyone's arc get approved yet or did you get any info or update on it?

According to my MP my husband's ARC was coming up for review in January 2016 but the visa office pushed it forward two months, now in March they can either review it or push it again to be reviewed in another two more months and in May they can do exactly the same. Our application reaches 17 months now in March but my MP told me the processing times for spousal sponsorship don't apply to us because the ARC adds more time and they do not have specific processing times for ARCs. He told me to contact him again in May if I don't hear from Vienna. I cannot even begin to tell you how upsetting this was, I didn't make any travel plans during Christmas because I was hoping my husband would be here in March and now I don't even have an expected date.

Yes,,its 2years now since i sent my application,and its been a year since i sent my ARC too,,i dont know if they Open already .,because my lawyer told me before christmas that my ARC is still on review ,,till now no update

Wow and I thought my application was almost done.
I have been reading about other members in the forum that submitted Arcs and so far Vienna seems to be the VO that takes the most time in dealing with ARCs.

Islamabad took 7 months (Jimmy 64)
Bucharest 3 months (Mrs Christmas)
London 6 months
Mexico one or two months
and Vienna over a year

Is there anyone that had this issue, my husband was called in for interview at Vianna they told him he is approved but they told him to go home and that they will email him to tell him where to send his pasport so they can stamp the visa. Please help its been 12 days since the interview

After my wife's interview they requested additional documents, We sent the documents a month ago and still waiting for response.

I sent an email to Vienna in February and I only got a response this week, they took 22 days to reply back and in the past they normally responded within a few days (3-5 days) so it looks like things are really slow there.
