US outland applicants' thread :)

It would definitely come quicker within Canada, though. Husband's COPR is being mailed to NYS. Not far geographically from Ottawa, but still over the border.

My husband's COPR will be mailed to Cleveland, I'd be curious to see your timeline on how fast it gets to your husband.

I think we did it! We have all of our forms filled out and signed, we have it organized into 3 folders [Sponsor app, PR app & supporting documents/evidence] and have checked it over 4..6...23,295 times. I have a few questions.

1.) Do I need a cover letter?

2.) In total, our application is about 70 pages. This seems small in comparison to others but surely others have had this amount, right? We have 5 pages of pictures [each with 9-10 pictures], our 2 daughters birth certificates, copy of our joint bank accounts & copy of our mortgage papers. We have been married for almost 7 years, lived together the entire time, have 2 children together, are applying outland from the US. It seems pointless to have stuff like plane tickets, emails, etc from 2007/2008 [premarriage] in there because we have been married so long. Is there anything that we should include as evidence that we're missing? I've read people write essays explaining their relationship but is this necessary for such a straight forward-married for years-with-evidence-already-included case?

3.) Where do I attach the 4 necessary photos?

4.) I know I mail our application to Mississauga, Ontario, is this the right address?

Mine was 111 pages total. We had not been married a year when we applied. I put the photos in a small envelope marked "photos-including four immigration photos". I did not have a cover letter. I did include boarding passes as we did not live together yet and it was proof of relationship. We each did a one page essay explaining how we met and how our relationship progressed. But it is not required and as you stated, you have been married for years. I did write Outland on the envelope but you don't have to. Yes to Ottawa.

Suggest you check for form updates right before you mail. Double check signatures, put N/A on checklist if forms are not included, for example, Use of Representitive form if you are not using. And mail with tracking.
I sent mine fed ex in October and got COPR in the mail early this month.

Ours is about two inches thick...lol...the Case Manager gave us our photos back to make it 2 inches too!!!

Update - We were so happy that the LA Visa office re-issued my hubby's PR with the correct passport information very quickly. He sent it on a Tuesday night, they received it Wednesday by 10:30am and he received it by Thursday afternoon. It was just in time for his flight Friday afternoon. He successfully landed in Canada last Friday and we are so happy this immigration process is finally over Time to enjoy life!!!

Still waiting on COPR that was mailed March 11th.. CIC mails seems to take at least 2 weeks to get to PEI every time they send anything.

We actually still have it because we had to wait on a letter from my husbands employer. It'll be sent off tomorrow. We are still trying to figure out what other evidence we might be able to attach.

The bar really isn't that high for proving a genuine relationship when it comes to Americans. Since you are married, you don't have to worry about common-law proof either.

The best thing you can do is just make sure everything on the checklist is in there and everything is signed, as that's the only reason you'd have a problem. You are good to go!

No, it's very unlikely you'd get another police certificate request, unless you have some criminality issues.

Okay thank you. I ask because a few pages back someone was asking when their copr expires and someone said when their fbi check expires?.. Or actually I believe they said when their medical results expire? What does this mean?
