    Spousal sponsorship

VanityFair - My answer to your question would nearly mirror Aquakitty's.. We did an outland application and my hubby traveled back and forth from Canada to the US every week. (We didn't want to live apart - so we both moved to respective border towns for the PR process) Brutal :| That way he...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

It's after Monday, so I'm sure it's all sent. It's a huge deal yes, but try not to worry. You sound very organized!! The waiting begins! Best of luck.

How long is the wait to get an appt to land at CIC Office?

Hi Tom, I hope you work it out to get an appointment soon! We've all done enough waiting. ;) We just got CoPR (13 days after DM was posted).. just making plans for landing now. Cheers!!

    Sponsoring Spouse

Cap - we used both in our application, just specified that there was a separation month/day/year then a divorce (as they will have the documents) on m/d/year. (in our case the divorce took a LONG time - so it looked like the relationships were close together, when in fact the separation period...

My Car Import Experience & Helpful Tips I Have Learned (US ---> Can)

Chelly - THANK YOU!! Honestly, that was really helpful.. thinking that we will not import the car! Does anyone have any experience with landing as a PR in a vehicle and NOT importing it? As in - can my hubby cross with his Washington plates in a US car to "land" (first time declaring PR) and...

Timeline between document request ---> DM ?

It wasn't the FBI check, but we had documents requested Jan 13 - we just got DM last week.. 2 months.

Can spouse apply for any other visa parallel to Spouse sponsorship visa

My bad, sorry for the confusion. Nothing in this thread mentioned a visa exempt country.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

We sent our app in Aug - started processing Sponsor App in Oct, PR in Nov. Just got DM last week. We included our FBI check, medical reports and all fees upfront. I have read quite a few people that submitted a letter stating the FBI check was in progress.. If I knew we could do that we would...

Can spouse apply for any other visa parallel to Spouse sponsorship visa

Your wife should be able to just cross into Canada and be here for 6 months as a visitor. Just don't tell them she's planning to move here and she should have no issue. If she mentions she is going to visit a significant other they will have more questions - likely want to know how long she...

evidence in the envelop "Proof of Relationship" or behind Questions

As much as I could - I had all supporting documents (flight itineraries, tickets, etc) right behind the official form we filled out. I clearly labeled the top of each supporting document with the IMM page number and question number as well. Some of their forms asked for 'the same' evidence as...

US Citizen Marrying a Canadian Citizen in Canada

I will admit that crossing (or staying) in Canada seems much easier than in the US.. I've just had some major issues trying to cross and want people to be cautious. If they think you are here to stay with a girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse with no intent to leave they can deny your entry.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I agree with CDNPR - don't be too concerned, but it really is nice to hear what other people did. What would be helpful is if CIC actually explained things better - as there have been SO many questions about things that could simply be explained. Julies - I left my barcodes in the order they...

    spousal questions - help

Have you spent any length of time in another country? I don't remember the exact parameters and how long you had to be there to need the background check.. But if it's not an issue then no, just your own country. I don't remember exactly which form we had the criminal question on. I'm sure it...

US Citizen Marrying a Canadian Citizen in Canada

I will side with barbiehead.. don't offer that you are coming to get married or that you have a fiance in another country.. just adds to their questions. Definitely don't mention anything about either one of you planning to live in each other's country - huge red flag. Not sure how close you...

How soon will she be your wife? Are you applying now as common law? Or after you are married? Where does she live? Where are you from? Each VO should have different processing times listed..

    Decision Made

I'm in the same boat boblong.. It's been about a week with DM posted and no other info. I have read in other posts that about 8 days after DM is posted that people have received COPR in the mail.. Here's hoping! I will update as I get info, please do the same. YYC - I am trying to just be...

    Sponsoring Spouse

Capricorn - it shouldn't affect the processing time. Just be very organized in your application package - definitely include copies of any and all legal documents from the divorce. The application package tells you this, as well as including the copies of the marriage certificate for your...

OCTOBER 2015 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS

Thanks#11 They have asked for more info on a criminal history, but all charges were dropped, there SHOULD be no issues, but that was the last request we had, so it's my nature to worry. You're right. I'm sure they would request an interview if there was an issue. I'm not sure why they would...
