Guys a small question:

Do spouses under Family class sponsorship need to possess any money when they travel to Canada? Does Immigration officer ask for it? If yes, how much should they carry?
you dont have to have any money on you really , but if you want you take upto $10,000 with you they will only ask if you are carrying any cash or not they wont even ask or say anything if its less that that amount .

Just to clarify....you can bring however much money you want into Canada. You only have to declare amounts over $10,000 CND. See: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5052-eng.html But to answer your original question vinjovi, no, you don't need to have any cash on you.

@Applied03

It does not harm putting an inquiry once, putting too many will irritate them, i guess instead of suffering and waiting we can just raise an inquiry worst case they will reply late at least they will for sure and we will hear the updates, i did raised an inquiry few days ago and they say waiting time to reply back is 28 days currently. I would recommend to initiate an inquiry even if you hear something this Tuesday they will provide you the status when they will reply back later. There is no harm in that

Hey guys,

I have been following up on the conversations lately and feel I could share something that could possibly benefit your understanding of the process.

I put in the one and only case specific inquiry on November 12, after waiting for a month of sending in my PP (refer to my timeline in the side bar), to get an update on the status and also ask for them to confirm the receipt of my Passport which i was quite worried about. I heard back from them on the 18th of November where they told me my case was pending Initial Review and did not confirm the receipt of my passport. Clearly did not serve my purpose. They sent in a generic response to my query. I sat thinking that since my case is still pending initial review it will be at least mid december that I shall have the Visa etc.

My visa was issued on the 24th of November. In friggin' 5 days of them telling me my case was pending initial review. So what i am getting at here is that the process does not take much time at all if its a straight forward case well documented and completely supported.

For people who are still waiting for PPR, IMHO, i would suggest drop in a case specific inquiry but do not go tooo much by it since it might not mean much.

Very good news coming your way you guys! Faith and patience you all.

Hey Guys,

Sorry for not participating over the weekend, just been swamped at working with year end coming soon.

@ sanyrog - we are still on the same boat, lets wait and see what happends tomorrow, as I filed case on Aug 21 and CPC-M received it on Aug 24. So that being said my case is already been over 3 month. Got a letter from CPC-M on Sept 21. I have sent a second case enquiry, but not automated rely, nor a reply from them. I have some relative that said they have a quota, and if they have hit there quota, they slow down the process, this better not be the case. How could they hit there quota by Sept?

I was talking to my family members and friends, and they said I can try to talk to my local MP, and see if they can email ND, and find out what is going on, as MP's offer free service, and might out some weight on the processing, but I am worried if I do that, will that piss ND off and send my wife an interview letter? I guess ND has a mind of its own. I know day by day it gets worse, and we want to unite with our partner. I wanted to be with my partner for Diwali, but no luck, I am praying to god, we can spend Christmas together after our marriage. It would conclude this year as a memorable year.

Someone in the past forms has mentioned they have changed the way they are processing or something. can you please elaborate on that.

Anyways enough of my blabbering, lets all hope tomorrow brings a light in our life. Praying and wishing everyone has some good new tomorrow morning.

JAI MATA JI

Thanks Kal and Ariell for your answers. As a skilled immigrant I was carrying some work when I newly moved to Canada. Not sure for the dependents.. so wanted to figure out if my spouse has to carry any amount. So what is the usual trend? is it sufficient if she carries around 3000 CAD?

Vinjovi, your wife can come with any amount that she chooses - $0, $50, $3000, $10,000 etc. It won't make any difference to CIC. She should bring whatever amount she will need.
